Cannot install audio driver on my notebook Compaq C700 series

Hello all,
I have a new Compaq C700 series notebook. After installing a fresh copy of windows xp, I tried installing the audio drivers supplied by the vendor.But it said first to install sp32646 service pack.I downloaded the file from internet(HP Website).
But even after that its not been able to install and run audio applications.Can anybody help me out in this regard.

I have encountered a similar problem with WinXP SP3, what I did was clean install XP SP2, load all drivers there then do the upgrade to SP3.

if you have installed windows xp to a laptop preloaded with vista, in most cases u need to install first the microsoft universal audio driver from microsoft.
first, uninstall any audio driver u hav installed. download universal audio driver from microsoft (search this website). install the driver, restart, then install the driver from hp.
