i don't really think so. definitely a university education is one of the basic requirements for whether you could compete in the job market. without that, you can't even stand in the waiting line. but we should realize that the knowlege or special techniques a university education can furnish you is most likely thoretical. before you put into practice in the real world, you will never know whether it's going to work or not. therefore, it's better to say a university education is a precondition for a successful future

My dear,I hold three Master's level degrees and nnly 582 books were required to be called M.Sc.M.Tech.,M.A(English),but the real education I got from the 16000,perhap more, books which I have studied away from the university.I have prepared about 68000 graduates and Master's level students from my one room.Your university and college students seem to be the recruits who go to learn the basics of things. You are right that it depends on the university which you go to.I don't see Newtons,Gallilios,Rabindra Nath Tagores,Sir Winston Churchils,Bill Gates, and many more to name, coming out of Universities.Creativity of any kind requires solitude. You may have been satisfied with the material rewards after the university education, but I don't care for the things which are prized by the majority.I don't meam to offend you,but the rewards which university education brings are too small in comparison to the rewards given by the university of the world.Pardon me,I want to see the best coming out of my students and I can't limit them to merely university education. Bless you.Raja sir

There can be so many responses to this statement or question.. A lot of students going to university do not really know what they want to study. Rather, they do not know who they are. I think basic training to become confident, clear, should start way ahead of University and by that time one is more capable of choosing the direction they will excel in.
Sometimes what is called the real world looks pretty strange to me.. people llokin so unhappy going to work.. They seem unfulfilled. What is missing??
I think it is the sould. Nothing is feeding pour sould anymore. Time we started to look at life and see whre we can start changing things, usually with oneself , being more real.
