Sonic Coney Dogs...MMMMMMM

I have a confession…I Love Sonic Coney Dogs. You know the ones…a foot long hot dog in a nice soft bun with yummy chili and lots of cheese on it. I’ve always loved them. I wish I could make them like that at home. They don’t even have to be the foot longs just as long as they taste like those. My Mom used to get them for me as a treat growing up when I’d do well at school or something like that. I know that their probably terrible for me…most anything that’s good usually is.
I also love Long John’s fish, chicken and hush puppies. Though the last time I got them they were really oily…I’d love to learn to make those and have them turn out that good…as long as I can get most if not all of the oil out of them. I’d love to make some really good hush puppies…anyone got any good ideas for making them?
Any ideas how to make them at home and have them turn out like Sonic does? Do you have a favorite food that you’d like to learn to make at home? Is there a certain dish that you’ll go out of your way to get?

OMG I miss Sonic coneys, and their onion rings. I miss them because there is only one Sonic in the state of PA, and it's not near me!

Their onion rings are awfully good. Anybody's onion rings are awfully good. Darn, now I want onion rings.

I like the coneys as well, along with the onion rings.
I think my all around favorite though is deep fried shrimp, although KFC is right up there too.
Decisions, decisions...

I have never had a sonic coney island dog - though mother used to make us all sorts of sausage and hotdog meals - sometimes with chili and cheese, sometimes with peppers and onions with cheese, sometimes with kraut.
She always toasted the buns a little bit so that they would not get too soggy.
I can not think of anything off hand that I wish I knew to make at home that we buy when out...

omg. I tried to eat one of those for the first time about a week ago and ended up throwing it away. Now I do agree with you that Long John's stuff is yummy although oily, but they would have to pay me a LOT of money to eat a sonic chili dog. The ones at wienerschnitzel are bad enough. Alt5hough it was hard to get off white bread a long time ago, now we have been eating only whole grain foods so long that those mushy buns just do not seem like food any more. Weaned ourselves right off from them, I guess.
But I do know what you mean, because my own comfort food is macaroni and cheese and it5 has to be just as unhealthy. :-)

Arby's roast beef sandwiches, and their horsey sauce. Yumm. They really are not that bad for you. It is fun to get them once in awhile. I cannot get my roasts to ever turn out that way. Cherry limeade from Braum's is good, as well.

my kids like thiose coneys but I never did. I go for the no hamberger lol.
and I like Long john silvers shrimp plates. The only way to make them like that is find where they buy them for they are already coated with the crust.
but I take most of that off and just eat the shrimp
If we want a treat we go to sizzlers now as the have al ya acn eat steak and shrimp for $10 a plate then they fill it back up if you arent full but it has to be a special day to do this!

I usually get the burgers at Sonic but I saw a commercial for the coney last night and I wanted one so bad. My husband usually gets the coneys. I also really love the fish and chicken at Long John Silver's. There is a coconut shrimp dish at the local Chinese Buffet that I would love to be able to make at home. I don't know how they do it but its delicious.

You have a Sonic's in your area? You are teasing me!!! They show the commercials for them here, but the closest ones to me are so far out, it wasn't even worth it to go before gas went crazy. I so want to try their food

Sushi! I love sushi! OMG! If I could afford it, I would have a sushi chef working for me 24/7! lol. yeah, ok there are books and classes I could take, but it always tastes much better when it is made by those who are trained only in the art of sushi! lol.

I've never tried the Sonic Coney Dog yet, but I enjoy chili cheese dogs and I've had and enjoyed some of Sonic's other food.
I remember when the very first Krispy Kreme doughnut shop opened in Colorado (on the south end of Denver.) For the first week or so, visitors to the store had to drive a few blocks east, then south and west so the long line didn't block traffic. I was taking a course in Denver at the time, so I always picked up a couple dozen doughnuts to bring home to the family. There were similar traffic problems when a Krispy Kreme opened in Colorado Springs. (It has since closed.)
