Getting a dog to replace a child

I know two situations where a dog has been used to replace a child. My sister who is married to my ex could not have children, they tried invitro and all that. So she bought a dog and then another. She dressed them up and even got pictures with santa. Yes pictures with santa. 8 years later she got pregnant; within a less than a year after one of her dogs had a heat stroke on a trip. My sister decided that she didn't want dogs anymore because they were annoying to her. He husband did not want to get rid of his dog whom he loves. He lost they gave Pugs to his sister and family. Every time they come to visit he asks to bring his dog home and she says no I dont want dogs. I think she has real babies now and doesnt need the other- I am not impressed. My son and his girlfriend just aborted her baby in Jan at the firm request of her parents. They did not want to they had names picked out (Brooke Lynne) and the works; they were going to make it work with my help. Well it was done despite the dissagreeance and they have been getting through it. Last month they come home with a little white terrier mix and her name is; yes Brooke. Guess its like a practice run should it every happen again; I hope not, not for years..... Do you think people should do this to pets? Do you think it leads to dissappointment for the animals? I think my sisters pug is sad everytime he see's his parents leave him every few months. The new puppy has no idea, until a baby replaces her.

That is quite sad to here. I definatly do NOT think that doing that to a dog is acceptable what so ever. She practically abandoned the dog. That is a very selfish and unethical thing to do. Yes I do believe that it leads to dissappointment for the animals because they love their owners. If they just suddenly get abandoned then they must be really confused and sad.

Yes I agree with you. I would never get rid of my pet. I have three dogs and 5 kids...we are one big happy family.
