How do you maintain your bmx bike?

i have this bmx bike i assembled, i put lots of oil in my chain that all dirt stick on it. i was having problem to clean it..first i was the chain with oil..but still dirt stick on it. my cousin also loves bike, he has a cross country bike..i ask him how to clean my chain. he advised me to put some kerosene and brush it. well it actually worked! now, i clean my chain everyday! how do you maintian your bmx bike?
