How do you feel about Ouijaboards?

The movie the exorcist was actually based on the true story of a 12 year boy who was the last person to have an exorcism performed on him by the Roman Catholic Church in 1959, if my memory serves me right. Of course a Hollywood movie would have all kinds of special effects extra and the Reagan was actually Linda Blair a girl. But the premise was that in the original 12 year boy story it was said that he was playing one a ouija board, and that is how he got possessed by evil spirits which then had to be exorcised out of him. I have been afraid of ouija boards all my life, once a friend of mine said she played it with an office worker during working hours up in the attic where they actually worked. They asked if a spirit was there the board spelled yes, They asked if the spirit was male or female, the board said male, They asked if the spirit was good or bad, the spirit said bad, They asked why it was a bad spirit, it spelled out he killed his mother. They asked why did he kill his mother and then the board would not move anymore. Do you believe that Ouija boards are actually mediums to the other world or fake? Have you ever tried or Ouija board or Know anyone who does? If so what happened?

I definitely believe in oujia boards. I've used them myself before but I am respectful. I do not mess around with them like some people do. My mother uses one and does a lot of crazy things with it, trying to taunt spirits and what not and it bugs me to no end. I constantly have to tell her not to do it and tell her why it's bad but she won't listen to me. It gets old after awhile, constantly trying to tell her why it's bad. She's like a little kid a lot, wanting to taunt things and do things because she finds it fun and it's like an attention getter. When something really bad happens I don't want to hear her complain about it because I've warned her, several times not to do it.

You might also know it as a spirit board. It's just a board with letters, numbers and the words yes and no. There is a small widget that two people are to set their fingers on lightly. They ask questions of the spirits and it's supposed to move the widget around the board to answer.

I actually think it is reasonably silly to even think of ouija boards as anything other than a dumb board. I had one in my house for years and years with no pointer. A co-worker had given it to me to copy the lettering in helping my daughter on a school project. For whatever reasonl, I just hung on to it. My uncle who is a teacher warned me to get it out of my house. I laughed and he told me a story about a group of students whom he witnessed playing with it. He said that they were very scared and he was a bit creeped out afterwards. I just laughed it off and kept the board anyway...again never ever using it. One nite a group of teens gathered at my house and one young man took the board and a self-made pointer and sat himself in a corner and used it. My daughter heard that using the board activated the evil luck....so she threw it in the trash. I don't know and I'm sure it is coincidence but the following few months were pure hll!...My wallet got stolen and I lost 200.00 which was devasting since I was a single mom and it was xmas time. Then my car got stolen and one of my daughters landed herself in some serious legal trouble that compromised the roof over our heads and almost but didn't leave us homeless. Did the ouija board have anything to do with this? more than likely ...not. I'm sure it was just timing and coincidence but still...I don't have a reason to have an ouija board in the house so I won't.

i really do believe in the ouijaboards because i have had a cousin before and she didn't know what it was when she was younger and she started playing with it and her mom and dad was in the room and they didn't really believe in it and then she ask it something and the board started to just move by itself..so i really think that tehy can work...i don't think that i would really want to mess with one...

Beware of Ouijaboards. They are nothing but evil. I am personally suffering from its evil effects. During my childhood days, I was fond of it and played with it every now and then with my sister. She was very good at it and the coin (yes we used a coin which moved on the board) would move very fast on the board (we used to work on a simple plain paper after writing down alphabets and numbers, yes and no and some other oft used words). As we grew up we forgot about it but not my sister. When my father expired due to heart attach, she started on it and tried to call upon him. She used to work on the board with others in my family - my mother, my other sister. She did not talk about this to me as she knew I was no more a believer in it and would not approve of it. After couple of months when I knew about it, I also got interested and starting participating but very rarely. But my family used to have lenghty sessions on it - for hours together. It had become a habit for them. My sister left her job and made it a full time activity. During one of the sessions, we had exchanged some conversation with the spirit - who claimed to be my dad - which put me and my wife terribly off after which I never went into these sessions and became totally against all this activity. It all had started in 1998 Nov. I went abroad after a year or so and came back home in 2003 June. Due to these differences I did not meet my family for all this time. I went there only in January of 2007 when we were told that my mother is not feeling well. All our relatives were there. I was shocked to see her. She was now bedridden and my sister was using walker to walk. My mother had a nasty fall after which she became bedridden and my sister had sever pains all over her body. After a few months I went there to check out on my mom and found that now she is not coherent in her speech and does not show signs of recognising any one. My sister was now on a wheelchair and was so frail that I could hardly recognise her. She had unexplained bruises on her arm which she was covering with her cloth. All her teeth had gone. She was just 48 years old then but was looking like she was 80+ or something. In November of 2007 (after exactly 9 years of continuous working on this board) my sister expired while on the wheelchair. And very recently on 2nd May 2008 my mother expired. My other sister who was an active member of all these sessions is also looking so frail and with pain that I am now afraid about her. So hey guys this thing is dangerous and the best thing one can do is refrain from it. Yes in the beginning the sessions seem very interesting but once it becomes a habit you are no longer in control of yourself. Ther is lots more that I could say but I think I have said a lot. My God bless you all.

I don't know if ouiji boards are for real or not and am in no way interested in finding out. I have heard many bad stories about them, though. I have some friends who like to dwell into stuff like that, but I don't hang around long enough to know anything that happens. I have actually told them that if they pull it out while I am there that I will get up and leave, immediately. There is enough bad stuff going on in our world, therefore we don't need to be searching for more in other worlds or spirit realms as they call it. God is the only spirit I'm interested in talking to.

I don't like to try the Ouija board. It's creepy and I wouldn't want to involve myself in something that concerns spirits. The act itself is creepy enough. Calling spirits and asking them questions. Some can manipulate the movement to frighten other members, but if it moves by itself then it's another story! I believe practices like this actually gives the spirit world a venue where they can enter. They are invited, aren't they?

Yes I agree with you we invite them and then we don't know what will happen next, take over our mind or whatever.

Maybe the concept is the same to our famous "spirit of the glass/coin" I have tried it and really witness how it was, we got answers from all of our questions and he got all our name correctly! I do know if it's real but I have witnessed it personally!

I think it is best not to dabble in things we do not understand. If it doesn't work, cool, no harm done. What if it really works and you call up "something", unless you are sure you have some power to defend against it, that will be the last chapter of your life's story.

A ouija board was actually a tradition in my family...starting with my great-grandmother and she was involved with a lot of "psychic" phenomena..later on I got a board myself and dabbled with it...it never frightened me at all to use, but then having grown up in sort of a psychic world or at least an understanding of the metaphysical due to my upbringing no wonder. I really don't see how a person can be "possessed" by a board...to me that's nonsense. Of course there have been cases where a person might become a "channel" that opens up the spirit world...such was the case of the past psychic Edgar Cayce who could go into a trance like state and could answer particular questions a person might ask him--his answers were beyond his know how and realm of knowledge as he only had an eight grade education--then there are other cases where people have been retrogressed to their past lives....one author Joan Grant's novels are based on her past lives. It could be possible in the case of that evil spirit that the 12 year old boy got "possessed" by just may have been one of his earlier lives that was a negative personality that did somehow come through--retrogression into past lives does have to be monitored for obvious safety reasons As I've said....I've used Ouija boards and never had negative results with it.....

as far as I know I am the first generation psychic ability person, not a true psychic in the sense that I can channel or direct my activity at all, and my son has a bit of ability as well. His is not as strong as mine but then mine got stronger as I got older as well.

They terrify me and I certainly wouldn't dabble. Years ago friends of mine were doing one in a high rise and the glass started going crazy and smashed which frightened them. They threw away down rubbish shute and a few minutes later it tapped at the 11th floor window of the flat they were in, intact. They were kids and I really don't know how true but they seemed genuinely frightened when telling their experience. Ellie :D

Actually I am afraid of the Oiija board as well, because of the unknown aspects of it. Is it real or not I don't know but I am not about to go buy one have it in my house to test to find out because I wouldn't want to know if there are anything in my house even if things do go bump in the night. I have enough nightmares. My mom actually had one of these boards when I was nine and maybe that is why we had such bad luck when I was growing up?..Dp they cause bad luck because bad things happen? Or as you ask is it a hoax? The only thing I feel comfortable asking questions to is my eight ball and I doubt that is in league with the Ouija board. It would totally freak me out if I was one of those office workers and that happened to me. I would quit work and never go back..

What I meant was a magic 8 ball(not the 8 ball in pool billards even though that is what it looks like an oversized one.) You can ask it yes and no questions it is for kids really but I have one the kids love it. It has some kind of fluid in it that is dark blue and it has a little triangler thing that has different sayings on it like yes, no,you can count on it,reply hazy ask again later, all signs point to yes,as I see it yes, and others you just ask a question and give a shake or a turn over and look at the little window for your answer. Now with the co-worker..I meant your friend and her office worker, which is why I said co-worker. That if that had been me I wouldn't go back to work there because I would have been to afraid. My mom made a Ouija board from the directions in a book and then later bought one. We had nothing but bad luck after and basically since.

I don't know if I actually believe in the Ouijaboard or not but I did have a very strange experience involving one. My friends and I had gone on a retreat with some Nuns and one of my friends had brought a ouijaboard with her. We were in our room and the lights were turned out and we were supposed to be in be. My friend pulled it out and we started to mess with it. There were three of us in the room. The question was asked if there was anyone in our room beside us and the board answered yes. It was asked if the presence in the room was good or bad and it answered bad. We asked what was the presence in the room and the board spelled out Vampire. Well, all three of us girls threw the weji up in the air and jumped in the beds. Now I don't know if one of the others were moving the weji or not but I have not touched a ouijaboard since then. It really spooked me.

I once used a Ouijaboard when i was 11 or 12 and it scared the living life out of me. I do not remember exactly what we asked but it freaked me out. I would love to use another one though and see if it's still for real. I think they are the real deal and not something fake.

I did try one once but not being that serious.. We were more playing than being serious.. But when I think of it, I do know that the devil does exist and he looks for any chance to grab you for his own, so I will never again take such a chance, even in a joking manner.. I really am not going to tempt the devil.. I am a christian and we do need to take things like this seriously.. I honestly can't say that I know of anyone who has had any kind of dealings with the Ouija Board..

No, I have never tried one. I am curious as to how it does work though. If I do decide to summon a spirit, I will have at least 25 to 30 people in the room with me. Just for precaution. I don't know who have tried one, but I have seen movies of girls using it. The results always seem to turn out right. I am scared to try one I will admit.
