I feel that people sometimes overlook the decor of their homes outside. I didn't want to be like everyone else, putting huge Stars in the middle of my home, between two windows. As I was looking through magazines, something different caught my eye, a trellis. Our local landscaping shop had a beautiful iron trellis for $25.00 so I hung that on my home with an iron bench in front of it and now I can plant flowers around the base or decorate the trellis per season or holiday and it always looks different. How do you feel about this idea? How do you spruce up you home on the outside?

Your idea sounds great! What kind of flowers are you planning to plant? I have been redoing my yard and one side is totally done in pots of mini roses. I have about 100 rose plants around my home. I am going to redo my drive way from a lime rock to brick with moss planted between the bricks. I am also going to do a seating area under my Mullberry tree in the front yard. The back yard and one side is garden with all kind of veggies (I just picked about a dozen spinach leaves and munched them down). I need to paint the house and the skirting around the base, and I will paint the carport to match.
I have the best time planning and planting the garden and what I am going to do with the yard. Most people around where I live feel that if they put gravel in their driveway the place is decorated. Yet they all stop and admire my roses (I have regular rose bushes and then climbing roses that cover the edges of the roof and when they're in bloom it looks like a massive yellow carpet that is so wonderfully fragrant. I have the most landscaped yard in the entire housing area...which is a sad statement.
When you plant flowers, be sure to plant some marigolds, they do a wonderful job of keeping the insects and fleas away from the yard. Also coffee grounds will deter cut worms from attacking your plants. (I get bags and bags of coffee grounds from Starbucks...the grounds are free and do wonderful things for your garden!)
Take a picture of the Trellis and bench and post it on MyLot, it would be great to see.

I had rose bushes but had a tough time growing them. This year I'm putting azalya bushes in red and white. I will try to upload a picture of my trellis and bench, if I can figure out how to. I'm new to this sight. I have a blog web site too, if you would like to check out some photo's.
