Carbohydrates found in bread, rice and pasta is one of the food groups and should be a part of our everyday diet. The carbohydrate serving needed is a big one so you can have a slice of toast for brekky, a sandwich for lunch and a small potato or small serve of rice or pasta with your evening meal.
It's what people put on pasta that can be unhealthy and that of course is buttery or creamy sauces. Spuds are best boiled or steamed, rice is better if it's brown amd pasta is better for us if it's cooked and the sauce is based on tomatoes (with onions, garlic, herbs, mushrooms and other veges like grated carrot and chopped zuchini) rather than cream or cheese.

Yes i think that just eatign carbohydrates is a very bad diet . you need to broaden your opinio on food and eat more of a variety of different things. You should make sure you get enough fruit and vegetables, along with your vitamins. a carbohydrate dist only is not very good as it is just fat , well this is stored fat. i hope thsi helps jasmine! be healthy! loive longer! =] alrighht

I would not say that it is unhealthy in itself. But eating too much of one type of food can be unbalanced.
If you want to vary your pasta intake, buy a variety of types. I believe you can get brown pasta, or pasta made with vegetables. Shop around and see what you can find.
I tend to have pasta once or twice a week. The main reason being that I am trying to lose a bit of weight, and being a carbohydrate, pasta contains a lot of energy. Since I don't use up too much energy at my desk job, I don't want to eat too many carbs. Likewise, I am limiting my intake of rice, potatoes and bread. But I am not cutting them out altogether, as I do not want to become unbalanced.
