PREFER: go to movies, rent, or buy DVD?
For me, it depends on the situation. If i hang out with bf or my friends, we probably go to movies. But if i have no money, i prefer to rent it. Sometimes, i can borrow from friends who already bought its DVD, so i dont need to go to movies, and can watch it free...lol.
Yeah, i also bought some TV shows DVD and some american movies, and i lend them also to friends....

I like to rent - I can watch it and then send it back, If I really like it enough then I'll buy it.

I like the experience of going to a movie in a theater, and seeing it large and up close. But sometimes I don't feel like going out, or I just can't afford it. So I would then prefer renting the movie. I don't normally buy a DVD unless I know it is one I'll watch over and over.

First- It's much easier to scrounge up $3.00 for a rental than $20.00 for the theater. The video store is within walking distance(about 5-10 minutes) but the closest theater is 30 miles away, so I would need gas money as well as ticket money. Second- If I went to the theater, I'd need to go somewhere for dinner, so that's another thing to plan for. Third- I can't sit still and pay attention for very long so I'd rather be at home so I could pause it if I needed to. It has to be a movie I REALLY want to see, or I'd prefer to wait for video. I like to rent first, then if it's a movie I will want to watch a lot, I buy it. Lastly, I like the privacy of my home- no obnoxious people talking during the movie(unless it's me), no crying kids, no lines, no crowds, no rushing to not only get out of the theater but get out of the parking lot.
When my boyfriend wants to go see a movie, I drop him off and go to the mall!! It works for me because he usually takes the kids with him. That's my idea of an awesome afternoon!

Usally I perfer to rent movies because going to the movies can be expensive since the tickets are about $7.00 to 10 dollars which is ridiculous in my opinion. But the only time I go to the movies if it's for a big movie like transformers or chronicles of narnia 2 and the mummy 3. Those types of movies I see in the theators I rarely see comedys since there not worth it and would rather see it on dvd then the big screen.

Just like you, it depends on the situation. There are times when I prefer to go to the movies to watch certain films. I love going to the movies with my girlfriend as we share common interests when it comes to the kind of movies we watch. When the film is something we are looking forward to, we often watch during the first few days of its showing. However, there are times when some films are not shown in the movies. In this case, we do rent copies of the films we wish to watch. When I really love the movie, I end up buying a DVD copy for me to keep and watch over and over once in a while.
