My friend complain to me, "John, everything is so expensive right now. Ten thousand rupiah (our currency) hardly can buy anything now. not like 5 or 10 years ago, where everything is cheap."It got me kind of thinking. In these days, what can 10.000 rupiah or 1 US dollar. (1 dollar 8 cent precisely) get you?The answer still suprises me. It can get you:
- One plate of fried rice, with water, with 4-5 Sumedang fried bean curd. Like a full lunch.
Or: - 1 plate of gado-gado (salad with peanut sauce) and a bottle of tea.
Or if you are in tight budget, you can always get 10 box of instant noodle that you can cook at home for five days.
So, mylotters, what does 1 dollar or equivalent your country currency can get you? Be creative. I,ll be waiting for your answer.

In China,1 US dollar is equal to 7 Yuan.
Buy a cup of tea with milk, two sandwiches use 3 Yuan.
My usual breakfast expenditure is about 3 Yuan, therefore with 7 Yuan i can have breakfast for two times!
Therefore 1 US dollar can buy very many things in China!

Here in America you can still get a pak of balloons for that price. I don't think the price of balloons has gone up much at all since they were invented.
At many fast food restaurants, they have a dollar menu, so you could get a hamburger, or a jr whopper, or a order of fries, or a drink, at any one of those.

One dollar is more or less around 43 rupee in my country( India).
To discuss on more common thing that every one use in daily life is gasoline, and with this amount i can get 0.90 litre ( less than one litre) of petrol.
With inflation in my country reaching to a near 8% mark, and also the oil rate breaching the $135 mark, it becomes even harder for a common man, i mean those who are below the poverty line to make the both ends meet.
