Do you buy clothes only if they are "in style" or because you like them?

I do not but a lot of clothes but if I buy any I usually buy what I like. I do not usually worry about style of any kind. I probably do not have an article of clothing in my closet that would be considered "in style." When I shop though I look for clothes that I like. Last year I got a shirt on a clearance rack and the girl that was working their said "You know that is out of style right." I was looking at a shirt that was "in style" and did not care but I loved it but it was like $26 and the one on the clearance rack was only $6 and I loved it even more than the other. I think she wanted me to buy the other one but I didn't. So, do you buy clothes because they are "in style."

As you can see I don't follow the latest fashion trends, I shop mostly for things that will look good on me while at the same time are pretty comfortable too.

For the longest time, I did not care about clothes, and when I look at photos of myself in the seventh and eighth grade, I am so embarrassed because I look so plain next to everyone else. But I chose to spend my money on other things, I guess. I was a late bloomer in the "fashion statement" department." About midway through the first quarter of my Freshman year in high school, was when I started to become obsessed with my clothes because at that age, you really worry about what other people think (or might think), and where I went to high school it felt almost as though if you didn't buy your clothes from wherever it was popular to buy them from, people would take that as a sign that you were poor or something. Like if someone was wearing a messed-up pair of jeans, they would look at you and say, "Does she have a washer and dryer?" Yet if you were wearing a similar pair of jeans that had the little leather "Abercrombie and Fitch" sign on the back, they would go, "Cool! I love those! They're from Abercrombie!"
Then I got to college and I ended up in leotard and tights most of the time because I was a dance major, so there really wasn't any time to worry about clothes. I probably should have known I had that coming as I took my regular clothes off almost immediately after school when I was in high school to change into dance clothes which I would have on almost for the rest of the day, but I guess when you're going through that awkward phase you don't really notice how much people AREN'T thinking of you.
Now, I just buy what I like. I go by cut and style and what I think looks good on me. If I think it is unflattering to my figure, then I am not interested in buying it no matter how "fashion forward" it may be. I also look in stores like Goodwill a fair amount. If you know where to look, you can usually find some of those expensive "designer name brands" in immaculate condition for five dollars or under. I think now that I have a tight budget now that I am not with my parents as much and I am starting my own business which is not quite off the ground just yet, I tend to not worry about clothes so much right now. Sometimes I may see something I want, but choose to wait because I would rather spend the money on stuff for my dance company. So I really prioritize more, and clothes is no exception. It's a big waste to buy something that isn't necessarily "you" to try to impress total strangers anyway.

i buy clothes because i like them and because they are comfortable and practical for my lifestyle. i rarely get dressed up so i do not have alot of dressy clothes. i never wear heels because they are too uncomfortable. i like comfort and i also like things that are bargains but do not look like bargains necessarily.

I think buying clothes which you like is a great idea!Don`t think about the style.Buy clothes Which are stylish and you like them, not the clothes which you don`t like and are stylish.Yes if the clothes are not stylish but you like them then just buy.At this time don`t think about the world.
I buy clothes which are Decent not any style.Don`t Get Changed By The World Just Change The World And Maintain Your Own Likes And Dislikes Don`t Just Change Them.....:D

It's more like because I like them. I'm into the latest fashion but not all of the styles I see a lot of people wearing because I have to make sure it looks good on me. I'm very particular with the color, the style and the quality of the clothes so although it's the latest but it's not worth buying for me, it's useless then.

I buy whatever looks good on me. I guess I stay somewhat with "trends" but I mostly just buy clothes that I like. xD

I buy what i like!!! dosent have to be the top trend of the month or the year. And people say that i am a very nice dresser. And when they ask where i get a lot of my things i always tell them CLERANCE. I mean all it rakes is time most of the time to find great deals. Like you, i cant see myself buying a shirt or a pair of jeans for 30 dollars when the same store has one similar for a less price. I mean i like to get more for my dollar.
