Does your town or city require you to get a license for your cat?

Unfortunately, my town does. I think that it is another way to tax people and that the money is used to bribe the local corrupt politicians rather than going for something useful. But I digress.
Last time I looked, which was several years ago, the cost of one license per cat was 4 dollars.
Since my cats are all indoor cats, I see no point in getting ANY licenses for ANY cat and adding to the free money for corrupt politicians. I would NEVER tell anyone in town that I now have 4 cats.
What do you think?

I wasn't aware that we had domestic pet licenses and registries until a few days after I brought my kitten home in December, I had taken her to the vet for all her shots on the first day, and by the end of the week, the council had been informed of the new member to my family, and wanted me to fill out all of these sheets on her and pay them $15 for her registration, with a fine up to $1000 for not registering.
I couldn't be bothered with it, even with the potential fine.
My cat is also an indoor cat, she has a bell all the same, and she doesn't have anything to do with anyone except myself, my boyfriend and our visitors.

Nope, fortunately we don't have that kind of law on where you have to get a licensed for the cats or any pets. We can bring pets at home provided that we are taking care of it and they would not stray. :)

I agree. I live in the city. Cats are required to be licensed. I have 2 cats, but they are indoor cats. They've been to vet for all check-ups, shots are up to date.
I don't feel that I should have to get a license for them (only $6.00 per cat), because they never go outside.
I don't have them licensed either...
