The last few days when I get off of work, I have been letting our cats out on the balcony. For some reason my husband before he leave turns the A/C on freezing cold and I need to warm up the house. Plus the temps have been about 78, so it is nice outside.
For the last 2 days Vanessa has been catching moths and eating them. Wouldn't be too bad, but she brings them inside and eats them on our carpet. Yuck.
Do you cats eat these flying bugs?

My cat just likes chasing the bugs around. She'll bat at them and what not and knock them down but she won't eat them. Our other cats however will eat any kind of bugs possible. Anything that crawls or flies they'll attack and then eventually eat it. It is kind of gross but at least you don't have to worry about a high bug population.

Sometimes our cats do. Other times it's flys. It's funny to watch them catch them and watch them in general. The year the cicadeas were out though that was gross. They continuously brought them inside and it was horrible when you heard them crunching on them

My cats will usually swat at bugs, including bees, flies and moths, but that is about all, thank goodness. Once the cat brings down the insect, he or she will probe and push at it til it moves or flies away or doesn't move, period.
I wouldn't care for my cats bringing in bugs like moths and eating them on the carpet, and agree that it is yucky.

I own kittens and they both are hunting moths in the evening. The moths are attracted by the outside light, I am talking about 20 to 30 moths, and as soon as I open a door I can guarantee two or three will slip in my house. My kittens will then go literally nuts trying to catch them. I actually must admit I have got a few in on purpose to get them entertained. After playing with them they eventually eat them. I have actually killed a moth once and they looked at me like if I just broke their favorite toy! lol!
