I am looking forward to buy a new grill and start my favorite season: barbeque season. However, I am pretty concerned about the potential carcinogens present in grilled meat, especially when overcooked. What is your opinion, should barbeques be limited or banned this summer? I really love grilled juicy meats and cannot imagine a summer with no meat slapped onto the barbeque grill.

i do believe that having barbeques excessively can be hazardous to health. firstly, food that is charred has been shown to contain high levels of carcinogens, but this can be countered by paying close attention to the cooking and not letting food get overcooked. secondly, meats tend to be covered in seasoning that can be high in fat and sodium, so one must use such seasonings only sparingly. lastly, i think inhaling the smoke from barbeques, especially those that use charcoal, can be harmful to the respiratory system, so again, one should not attend barbeques for too long nor too often.
