Cant get it outta my head

Is it only me that listens to music and then cannot get the songs out of my head. It really doesnt matter who or what the music is, other than it is something i like, which could be anything from Elvis and the Beatles to Micheal Ball and Elton John. It does not matter who , but especially when I play music in my car - I end up having it stick into my mind and cannot stop singing, hearing it go over and over. I have stopped listening to stuff because of it. The songs seem to stay in my mind for a few days and then thankfully they finally 'leave' and I let go of them. Does this happen to you, and what if anything do you do about it?

this morning I had Fieber, by Oomph and couldn't get it out of my head. I heard it this morning in the bus(of course, in my head), but the worst thing is I know nothing of German, so I had just the melody and can only hum it.... Geeze I'd love to sing it so it could be a little more real, hahahaha.

gurucoach_ you have no idea how often I suffer through this. The songs seem to stay forever! Singing out loud helps me, but it doesn't work for you. sorry. My other suggestion is that sometimes our brains lock onto simple things. I have a few ideas why. I think the world goes into overload and the brain defends itself by blocking out everything except for that one song. Or, you might not be dealing with a problem, and even though the music annoys you, it also stops you from thinking. Find another song to sing. I know this song will probably get stuck as well, but at least it's a different song! I don't listen to TV or the radio because I can't stand all the racket of the voices and music. It's easy for me to give you suggestions right now, because I don't have a song stuck in my head. It's been a few days now since the last song faded away. You'll be fine.

Thanks anawar, its a real pain isnt it, I hadnt thought of it as suffereing but you are right. What is really interesting is that you can be thinking or doing something completely different and there the dam thing is, still singing in your head. I tried the singing it out loud and that just makes it stick even more. I do like the idea of trying another song. Ha ha - well at least its not depression or something, its really quite ok , if thats the only suffering we have. Thanks for post
