How long does your battery last?

Just curious. I have a laptop, I know you can change settings and all to prolong the life of the battery. But in order to get much more than an hour, I have to dim the screen so much it hurts my eyes to look at. So I adjusted as well as I could, so I have about an hours worth of time to use it, before I have to plug it in.
How does yours do? Are there other batteries available that last longer? Is it worth the extra money to invest in a better battery?

That sounds about average. I like to take my laptop with on road trips. I let the kids watch DVDs while we're driving. It starts to get low by the end of one movie. So I was trying to find out if this is average, or if there is another option, where the kids could get two moviews on one battery. I may just have to get a second battery for road trips.

I think laptops batteries wear out after a while because this laptop used to last about 6 hours but its about 4 years old now and it only lasts about 1 hour. My other laptop lasted about 1 and a half hours when it was new.

So you're saying I'm complaining about nothing? OK, I'll just deal with it. But I'd really like it to last a little longer.
