i am so behind and was so gung ho on getting all my quota in for payoff that Ihave been really behind in thanking all of you for all my best responses you have given me. I deeply appreciate each and everyone and will catch up on my job here tomorrow for sure.thanks to everybody. If only I was a faster type I would not
get so far behind and still make so many typos too.

It is not an easy task to maintain such things. If you have several discussions then it takes time to acknowledge the responses, which is more important than thanking someone for a best response because it keeps the site alive with active conversations. You also want to reply to topics of interest, so there is often very little time left.
My personal opinion is that if I award someone with a best response then they deserve it, so it does not matter if they thank me or not.

I don't always thank people for the best response. If it is an older discussion, I'm afraid the poster won't want that discussion brought back up, and if I replied with a thanks, it would come right back up at the top of their discussion list. So sometimes when it seems appropriate I will say thank you. But I think people know I appreciate it.

To my way of thinking, a discussion response does not require anything more than a 'thanks for the input' note, unless you have more information. Just bring up another window with the note and grab and paste it in, that way your neither typing so much nor are you being inconsiderate. These computers really have lots of labor saving tricks, we just need to learn howto use them.

If your son knows them, pick his brain, because if there is anything a computer whiz loves its telling others what they can do. Be careful however because if he is developing a sense of humor, which happens during his teen years, that time when communication between parent and child becomes strained, he may pull your leg a few times by sending you up blind alleys
