It seems to me that I must now admit that I have been a total failure in my life. This has not always been so. I have been a precocious child and had the sweetest singing voice that had both power and control. Blessed with a curious mind, there was nothing that I could never do I felt and I could be anything I wanted to be. Now, I have been thwarted in everything that I tried to do and nothing seems to go right. I have ventured into business and failed miserably many times. I made websites which also took nosedives. I am a failure and recognize myself as such.

Hey,
When every thing fires back, it is natural to feel the way that you are right now feeling.Just acknowledge it and learn from the mistakes you made. Let go of your pain. If any one can start working from the top, it is only about digging a grave.
There is no question of failure when you do not attempt to do anything. Outcome of your attempt might be discouraging. But the fact that you made an attempt itself is a success. Failure is the first step for success. So dont lose courage.

Thanks for the encouraging words. Failure does come and success does too. They are probably two ways of seeing the same thing. Could success come from failure and vice versa?

Exactly the life is the way u look at it.
Impossible... I m possible
Failure or success is a result of some efforts/attempts. Success comes when you learn from failures. Failure comes from being successful also. Because when u r successful, u will have some genuine enemies and false friends.
Neither success nor failure are stable in life. It is a momentum. The one who succeeds is the one who adapts to change.

don't be so upset. there are down times in everyday life.; in case of each person, who are so called very successful, see that whether they are truly very successful. no not that way.they also have negative moments. think positive and work towards goal.

What you pointed out are very true and valid points. I surely don't think that everything should be a bed of roses. I am seeing a new insight and I am exploring new avenues.

Thanks for the response. I do not mean to be negative or defeatist. It is a very honest and frank assessment of how my life has turned out. I believe in examining my life in order to see what it is that I am doing wrong.

You know what Underdogtoo, YOu are not the only one here who feel that way with yourself. I too that feel like I am a failure. I have been trying to think possitive, trying to find what is my strenght in life. Think possitive, do possitve, be happy with what I have, be happy with myself and what I am. Sometimes it works but it does not. But The worst thing of all is that my husband do not understand what I feel and the situation I am in. And More than that he even say something that really hurts me so bad and still don't even realise. I can't remember how many times I have to run and hide so people including my husband don't see me crying. Because I have never cried in front of anyone so people around me thought that I was so strong I never cared about anything. But in fact, I am such a weak and sensitive person. I understand how you feel.....I also have problems in life too (who does not though??) but the show must go on.....Right? Right now you must be strong, do your best and One day your time will come, trust me....I am waiting for mine too. I see my life as a tennis ball, when it hit the ground, it will bounce back in the air again. Be strong and do not give up yet!

Thanks for the encouraging words. I guess we all share similar experiences and we are not alone in what road we have traveled in our lives. This is comforting and makes me think that all failure is puny in the face of the possibilities that life offers.

stop thinking like this.friend.always be positive.
like other's saying :thinking like that always seems to make it true.
I think you need to make a discission what you want to be.and always stick to the goal.from time to time, you will be closed to it.
so summon up ,and try to do what you want.
I believe you will succeed in the near future.

I feel as though my sense of failure is very insignificant in the face of the positive attitudes that I have found in these pages. I want to thank everyone.

I have had some successes but I am afraid my failures are more numerous and they seem to be where it counts the most. It does not stop me and it does not diminish me but it does annoy me at times.

Let me tell you why you feel that you are a failure. It's because you are thinking in such a manner. I used to think negative things all the time and you know what...thinking like that always seems to make it true! A doctor even said I was depressed and prescribed anti-depressants...which I never took.
Right now my life is happier than it has been for a long while and some of it has to do with the way I look at life at the moment.
If you think you are a failure then you are...plain and simple. But if you believe in yourself, it may seem like a slow process to get where you want to be ( I mean hey, I'm still there right now) but I have confidence that you will get there, and confidence that I will get there (that is where I want to be in the future)
So, start thinking positive friend! It;s not as easy as I make it sound, believe me. There are times where negative thoughts come back to my mind but then all I do is think about something that makes me happy or smile and there we go...get out of the funky mood and do something that will make you feel better!
You know the saying, "It is better to try and fail than failing to try."
Good luck!

I understand what you mean by negativity because I too have been a depressive for a long time and it took me years to realize that this was a disease. Sometimes I would be immobile for days while gripped in negativity. I have gradually learned to recognize the symptoms of negativity and I have begun the long process of becoming a positive person. Thanks for your response.

You're a little too young to consider yourself a failure just yet. I too have gone through bad patches in my life - I'm going through a bad patch at the moment - and I have so far failed to achieve most of my ambitions. But there's always tomorrow, and as long as you keep trying you're not a failure. The true failures are those who never try at all.
Perhaps you'd feel better about yourself if you gave yourself some kind of mission - like raising money for charity, or paying off a debt within a certain time?

I actually have very many solid reasons for considering myself a failure. However, I believe this to be an objective assessment which does not impair my subjective opinion that I am still alive and able to learn from past failures.I do try to learn from my mistakes and I don't let my failure keep me down.

Thanks for the kind words. Yes, God and thinking that God is in charge does make it better. It still does not remove the stigma of being a failure, just alleviates the sting a little bit.

God never created His people to become what you called a failure. Everyone of us has it's own uniqueness that will contribute something to other people or in this world. Something bad that happened in our lives should never be perceive as a failure as a person per se but just a challenge that we have to face. What we have to do is to realize things that there's just something that we need to change or maybe improve some more. We should never give up on something. There's hope for everything.

I agree that there is something to be reached ultimately and that is success. Failure is something which is real and which I recognize. I do believe it to be a temporary way station and maybe its purpose is to humble us when we start feeling invincible.
