My hamster had babies!!

You might think so whats the big deal about that.
But when i brought the hamsters from the pet shop i was assured that they were two boys. The assissant even double checked and told us that it was against their policy to sell a breeding pair.
So you can imagine my surpise when i went upstairs to check on the hamsters and found a bundle of bald pink babies in the cage.
So we went to the pet shop to explain what had happen. They were great they offered to take the babies in when they are old enough to leave their mum. They also gave us a free cage so we could separate the mum and dad. They were very apologetic about it.
Has this happen to you with any of your animals?

Oh my gosh yes! We adopted two cats from a vet clinic quite awhile back they were both really fat cats we were told they were both males. About a week after we got them home one of the "male" cats had kittens! Hmmmm
It is great that the pet shop is working with you so well giving you a cage and saying they will take the babies when old enough glad to hear they are treating you right.

I am glad they are and that they did admit their mistake. Hopefully it won't happen again.

We had gotten a Hamster for my son when He was about 7 (he is now 20). I had hamster as a kid and never had any problems with them. This hamster we got our son was supposed to be a male, just a rather round male. We had the hamster one week. The darn thing bit me on my little finger when we were cleaning out it's cage and drew blood. I couldn't believe it. We took it back to the store, I didn't want the thing attacking my son.
A week later we just happened to be in the pet store and the owner came over and told us the male hamster we had returned had hamsterettes, It had been preggers and that is why it had bit me.

Yeah, I bought two female hamsters actually. Then I also found out that one of them was a male and the female gave birth.
