I love dancing to hiphop and rnb. Its the bass beat that makes me go crazy. Especially ne-yo's music. I just love 'em.

I think the best music depends on the type of dance you're doing. For ballet, it's usually classical, though there have been more contemporary ballets I have seen done to new age and blues and contemporary Christian and the like. For jazz, I would say the best is probably something upbeat like pop/rock, sometimes R&B or hip-hop perhaps (for lyrical jazz, you might want something slower). For tap, usually something upbeat with a distinct rhythm - you can find that in almost any genre of music if you know where to look, though I it would be quite difficult to make a tap dance go well with slow music. For lyrical dancing, usually the best way to go is with something rather slow. Though it doesn't have to have lyrics, usually lyrical is designed to interpret song lyrics directly through dance motions. And then there's modern - it is probably the most diverse dance form I have seen thus far, mostly because it is specifically designed to be free-form. I have seen modern done to every type of music under the sun.
If you're asking me, however, I usually select something non-mainstream for performances so that it isn't so trite and predictable for the audience (plus I like non-mainstream music better than mainstream usually).
