Okay, is this tax rebate (USA) thing really going to happen? I'm not putting much stock in it, considering I never received the last one and I played by the rules - I filed on time (ahead of time), paid what I owed, etc. I figure that, if I really do get mine (which, according to the IRS website, should be no later than tomorrow), that's pretty cool. It'll certainly ease the burden on the budget, since the cost of driving to work is now nearly $100 per week in gas alone. Although what bugs me there is that this rebate thing, for me, is not going to stimulate the U.S. economy, but will end up stimulating the economies of the countries we buy oil from. I am all for helping fellow human beings, but I kinda like it to be on my terms, and voluntarily. Sure, I can voluntarily not drive my car to work, but I'm not sure I want to ride my bike 60+ miles to work and 60+ miles back again each day. That would cut into my sleep time. So, what are your thoughts about this economic stimulus? If you are getting a rebate, what will you spend it on?

We wont get our payment until the middle of July. We don't do direct deposit so we have to wait for the paper checks to go out. I will be using the rebate to pay my mom back what I owe her, pay on a bank loan that we have pay the taxes on my car which are due in June and then buy food with what is left.

I am not getting a rebate, you bring up a good point. Most people will use this to get caught up on bills, buy food, and other things that are needed, like oil for the winter. I think it will help the economy on things that are needed like food and such, but not as lil bush planned. Hopefully those who do get the refund, it will help with gas and life's luxuries like t.p. and milk. Ainge

We should be receiving a rebate check but it will be going into our savings account to replace some of what we just spent on buying a new vehicle and fixing the things that needed fixed on it.Our poor savings account is looking rather sad right now. Soon it will hopefully be better. I do agree that it seems like this stimulus will end up going to other countries though since it seems like most people will be using it to make up the difference in gas prices and such. I don't think it's avoidable though which sucks!
