I just read an article from yahoo news. It said that lip gloss may be causing cancer. Because it intensifies the sun rays, especially on the bottom lip. I thought these days most products came with SPF protection. This was an eye opener. Apparently the gloss makes lips more transparent allowing sun rays deeper in, allowing for more damage.
What do you think?Do you use gloss?

No, I don't use lip gloss. (Being a guy, that might not be very surprising.) I'm surprised by the report, however.

I did not know that. I do not wear gloss though. I do wear Chapstick when I get dry lips. Other than that my lips have nothing on them most of the time. I know that most lip balms have SPF in them, but I guess the makers of lip gloss couldn't be bothered with it.

That is atually true. It is like any other part of your body if you don't protect it it can cause cancer. That is why i use my lipsense with Senegence. The lipcolor is actually a coat that you top your lips with that blocks sun rays. There is no wax or dyes it is just a color that actually paints (not coats) your lips, then you top it with our gloss that actually has spf 15 in it that protects your lips. So i never have to worry about that. our foundation has it in it too. Can you see why i joined senegence. It was free to that was the best part

Hi. I don't know that. Do you have the link so we can read it.
I hope that is not true since I love using lip gloss or lip balm.
Thanks. Cheers.

hi ersmommy1., i just saw this story on the six oclock news last night. i do not wear gloss but my girls do. however it never stays on long enough for the sun to get a chance to see it. i would like to see a show about what "does not cause cancer". it changes from one day to the next. i remember being told as a child black lickorish and blow drying your hair causes cancer. too much of anything is bad for us. i do not know anyone who wears that much gloss that it would effect them. wouldnt licking your lips constantly, keeping them wet be just as harmful?
