Giving out your true identity

I wonder if how many people in the internet gives their real name when they chat but I think 90% is not. Can you help me with my survey please. The situation is this: I want to chat and make friends on the net but I don`t know if the people will be honest about their real identity or real identity. Do I have to give my real name??? Yes or No will be a great response. Thanks.

I never give away my true identitly. Rarely if it is needed. Only in some sites like paypal i give my identitiy. I don;t want otheres to know ab

I use my real name for websites I write articles for. If I'm in an informal chat, I use a pen name.

Wouldn't suggest giving out your real identity in most cases. Most stuff I've read/heard says that you should be very careful about disclosing personal details online.
