im really wondering how important is studying in college when after graduating on a certain course you landed on a job which is not really related to what have you'd studied ..
many have said it was called under-employment which in 100 graduates only 10 of it has gotten a job which is stable or somethin like it is related to their course....
are you one of those called Under-employed???...how does it feels???
for me i find studying certain course in a UNI or state college a "NONSENSE" because after all the hardships what have you studied are just theories and when you are in actual job its merely a BIG different thing...WHY is it so...???
have your ideas about this....:)
THANKS...

I studied initially to be a newspaper reporter and was once for two years. Then I studied to be a therapist and have been one since 1991 so I have indeed done what I was trained to do in college... I am still under employed now due to having held on to a part-time position to serve the needs of my clients. I am presently looking for full-time work and hoping to have a private practice as well.

I studied science and majored in nursing. I made a grand nurse, for 16 years. I quit because my grand babies needed a stay at home Nana, now I work in a computer shop, I can bring my babies with me, I sooo enjoy it. I do computer software resolutions and virus malware clean ups. if I had it to do again I would go for IT support.

I have a degree in business administration. I majored in two fields of specialization: Finance and Management (I also have an MBA). Before graduation from college, the school where I was studying then offered me to teach. I have had other offers which I would say was more related to the courses I have completed. However, for some reasons, I accepted the teaching job being offered by the university. That was eight years ago. I am still teaching now. I wouldn't really say that my teaching job is not at all related to the course I have finished. I have been an entrepreneur for the past eight years and I believe that what I have learned from college is very much applied to my being an entrepreneur.
I wouldn't really say that getting a certain course in a university or college is nonsense. The problem that we have is not just UNEMPLOYMENT but also UNDEREMPLOYMENT. There are many jobs available here in our country. The only problem is that there is a mismatch between the courses and the jobs available in the industry. For instance, there are many job openings for medical-related fields. Unfortunately, more and more graduates of medical-related courses are going abroad. I don't think that hospitals or clinics would hire just anyone for these available jobs that are medical-related. There are also many schools that lack teachers. Where are our teachers? Some of them are abroad. Either working as teachers or domestic helpers. We can't blame them though. They are just in search for greener pastures.
With regards to the theories you mentioned, if the school's curriculum is designed in such a way that the theories we learn are actually applied in other subjects like practicum and on-the-job training, then they are not at all useless. When we start working, to some extent, these theories will still be applicable.
Just my thoughts...

Yes, I have a job that I specifically went to school for. I am an assistant buyer, and I went to college and double majored in Business and Fashion Merchandising. Im fairly certian, if someone could get hired without my degree, they would have no idea what to do.
