Netherlands

If you are an ex-smoker who has been smoke free for some time. Please tell me how you kicked the habit. I am thinking about quitting but just KNOW I am going to have a serious attitude problem. I hardly can control myself when I have a craving.... I just HAVE to smoke. Please let me know how you were successful. I need some helpful ideas to compile and keep for when I am able to take the step. By the way.... Patches, gum and nicotine suppliments do NOT work for me. On the contrary, they make my cravings worse. Thank you!

Wow, you got some good responses to this question. I'm a heavy smoker and have been for years and I'm always looking for new tips and help in quitting. I've tried so many times and failed. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to use some of these suggestions. It's nice to know that there are so many people who have succeeded at quittting smoking.

I appreciate that but that does not change the fact that I have quite a serious addiction to attend to. It is not that easy to just quit because I am thinking of my loved ones. If that were the case then people could easily quit.... It is a physical and mental addiction with chemicals involved.... Not easily walked away from. :) Thank you though.

I thought about that. When I stayed with my parents they are anti-smoking and didn't know that I smoked therefore when I did smoke I had to be out all day long and go through an enormous amount of effort to hide the smell from their non-smoker noses.... It did make me smoke less. However I can't imagine living with mine for a long time. :) Thank you!

stop Smoking - noe is the best time to stop smoking
SmokingI started smoking 30 years ago. I smoked Eve120s menthol lights until Sept 28 of this year. I used to smoke 1 1/2 packs a day. I had wanted to quit a number of times. I had gone to some of those seminars but they didn’t help. About 4 years ago we moved into a new house and I didn't want it to smell like smoke so I started smoking out side. and ended up cutting down to 2 packs a week. Started walking when ever I Lite one up. Then one day I just had enough. My bible says that God gives us the victory and I decided to claim that victory. Haven’t had one sense and I haven't been desperate for one either I’ve had an urge but get busy doing some else usually a walk until the urge leaves.

Don't smoke for today and take this oath everyday. Onething more you can do donate the amount you spend for smoking to any reputed organisation for charity. It will motivate you more and increase your will power.
