I just took down a bunch of trees between my house and my neightbors. I would like to put something in that is pretty and gives some privacy but does not look like I am trying to block their house. Does anyone who knows anything about hedges or small trees have any good ideas. I would like something that flowers or has some color. Please give me some of your ideas as the only place I have looked so far is Michigin Bulb. Thanks.

Hedges would be more private, but shorter on average. I believe they're a quicker answer as a tree would need quite a few years of growth to get what you want.

I have looked into hedges, the problem is I need to get out and check things out. I go to a nursery and usually there is no one to help. I better get moving because before you know it summer will be gone.

Crepe Myrtles are small trees with delicious colorful blooms that are so pretty. look into the western Garden book for colorful trees that grow well in your particular area. this is a very complete gardening book and has flowers, blooming shrubs and trees in it and where which things do best.It is a very complete gardening book for anyone.

Wow, thanks. I just checked them out on Yahoo. This was one of the trees we keep seeing in the area. I did not know the names of them. We were at a couple of Nurserys too. I wonder how much flower you have all over the ground after the flowers die. That would be an issue as they border our neighbors driveway. Thanks.
