Exercising....

I was just wondering, how do you get yourself to exercise? Is there anything you do to get yourself up on that treadmill, or out on a run, or on your bike? I mean, what personally gets you exercising. How do you keep at it? I do have a hard time feeling up to exercising...but I would really be happy if I could do it more often.

oh yeah! lol. I can defeniatly see how having active kids will make you more active =P But, I have no kids, and no one really to keep me moving all day =P I work nights, at a pets hotel. And sometimes when I'm in a good mood I do take a favorite dog out (we get to know regular dogs really good and I have a few favorites =P) and I run around one of our playrooms with them. And we have those platic little kid gym houses in each playroom (do you know what I'm talking about-the small thing with like one tiny slide and a small door to squesse into it?) Anyways...the dogs love to chase me around that lol. Ooo another baby?! Are you excited!? Congratulations! =) Do you know if it's a boy or a girl? Any names?

lol our dogs are about medium...but I'm not sure one (Maggie) is fully grown yet. She is a mix of some big breeds so I hope she gets bigger. But my dogs are fairly good on walks and don't pull too hard! =P My sister just had a little boy not too long ago, right at the end of febuary (he's a leap year baby!). I wanted her to have a girl...but it doesn't mean I don't love my nephew any less! :) Are you hoping for one more than the other? Good luck!!! :)

What really motivates me to exercise is to do diffrent exercises on a regular basis. If I do the same thing too much it gets boring and actually depressing.

Yeah that makes sense. We have a couple of machines that I use sometimes (a treadmill and the gazelle). But there's this one on tv I saw that looks kind of fun that I want to try lol. Maybe you're heard of it...it's for your abs/lovehandle areas, and you sit on your knees for it...you can spin with it and rock on it...I can't remember the name! Any chance you know what I'm talking about...I think "ab" is in its name...

I have to be feeling good and in a good mood without alot of worries and problems before I can motivate myslef to do the exercising. I have not felt good and alot of bad things have been happening in my household lately so I have not done much of anything other than work and sleep.

Aww I'm sorry that things haven't been going to good for you :( Anything you wanna share? Anything you want to vent? I'm listening if you need an ear! :) I know sometimes venting the stuff out helps a little bit. *Do I sound like a soap opera therapist? lol* But I defeniatly get what you're saying! I want to run in the morning after work, but when I get home sometimes I am just too tired. Usually being stressed out or upset will help me jump on the treadmill, because I just want to...let off the steam. And I defeniatly have been stressed nad upset lately, but don't run as often as I should. you know I heard that exercising will help you feel happier. Maybe you could try swimming or something when you are upset, it might relax you. I love to swim, but it's too cold right now-so I only have the treadmill until it starts warming up! :)

Getting started is always the hardest part.. Wat u can do is to find a few frenz who has been exercsing regular, to start off your routine.. Because once u see them, u will somehow be motivated too.. However, dun be jealous of how they look or how healhy they are, because they can do it and so can u.. It's not an overnight change that u can see in yourself.. If u are serious in your own health and body, within 1 month to 2, u will be able to the changes in u.. Once thta happens, the movtivation will be within u and once u start, u cant stop.. haha

The only way I keep up is to remember how good I feel after a work-out. I know that once I skip a scheduled day, it's difficult to get going again. I try self-talking in a positve way. I also decide I will do an abbreviated work-out. That way, I'm not overwhelmed. Once I start exercising, I usually do my whole routine. But, if I dwell on how hard it will be to do my whole work-out, I give up. Did I explain that so you can understand it? Sometimes it's hard to find words to express a visual image.

Motivation is the first thing that you need when you go into the gym. If you exercise at your home you can put up postures of your role model infront of you so that when you workout you get motivated. Most people exercise in the morning but I prefer late night. Most people donot exercise after having dinner and also no one knows how exausting a day is going to be. So if you spend your whole energy in the morning you will be low for the rest of the day.

Hi lily, I did some body builoding when i was a teenager. Well u got to enjoy yr time in gym and thats what is most important thing. Look when we enjoy something the motivation eventually comes. I had my freinds in gym so it was fun. There was intense competetion and it was really cool. I enjoyed my time in the gym and it was like a routine to me. There were instances where i got injured but that didnot stopped me from exrersixing. The pic in your profile looks like an atheletic one. Its really cool to be fit. I think if u dont have friends in gym then carry i pods or discmans etc. Dont look at it as a burden and know your limits. Enjoy your time in the gym! Cheers, Tutul

I exercise because it realy makes me feel better. I get cranky and impatient with everybody when I don't exercise for awhile. Exercise lifts my mood and physically I feel so much better. I also notice that I get to do a lot of things and accomplish more things and get to spend quality time with my children when I exercise. Since I am less moody or impatient, I get to treat my children better too and that certainly makes them happy. A lot of times, my moods and impatience would get in the way with my family because I am just so hard to live with. So exercise keeps everything around me in order so to say.

I'm not really all that big on exercising because I'm a naturally active person. But I try to go for walks with my daughter around the neighborhood at least once a week- weather permitting of course.

You know i mentioned this before in my previous discussion. This is one reason why I hate myself. Why? Because I know I need to do some exercise, I need to burn up some calories and get rid of those fats but I am too lazy to do it. I hope I will wake up to be a different person someday. A person very much willing to spend time to exercise, after all this is for my own good and to keep a healthy life.

Just appeciate it, force it with joy at the beginning, then a good habit generates, and naturally it will be OK.

I have a bad back which effects my hip. Makes it difficult to stand for long periods of time in one place or walk a long distance. Some days I can walk a short distance without any problem. Can't run any longer. I am thin so really don't have any weight I need to lose but what I do at home is walk the steps in the house constantly. I have 8 steps to each level. The bottom level, 16 steps from the computer room, is where the washer and dryer are located. I make certain to go up and down the steps as much as possible during the day and evening. Growing up I was a good athlete. Spent everyday playing baseball and softball. Taught swimming and played many other sports. So I've always been very active until the last couple of years when I began to have back problems.

I don't like to exercise. I never have, but I have agreed to start going to the gym about 2 times a week, not only for my own health, but as a family activity. Its just getting started thats going to be hard. My hope is that once I do, I'll look forward to going.

One thing I learned. You won't do anything if you're motivating with negativity. It's hard for me to start up my exercise regimen, but once I get going, I'm fine. It helps me to work out in a place where I feel comfortable. You know what I tell myself? The first day you miss your scheduled work-out is the last day you'll go until you get motivated again. I concentrate on how good my body feels when I'm done with my routine.
