Generally, it's calories in and calories out. Now, some people might have slower metabolisms, so they have to be more strict with their diet than others. Also, it's probably good to look into whether or not you have any problems with glands or food allergies. Sometimes, you can hold onto water weight if you eat certain foods. I found out that I have a disorder where my body tends to hold on to sodium and sodium causes water retention. When I eat too much sodium, I gain a lot of weight really fast.

Yeah, I have known all about calories and metabolism. I would stick with well balanced diets; couple meals per day. I would take in less calories than needed. Remember: METABOLISM! Avoid high fat and sugar at all costs. Also avoid high salt/sodium as well. You still need sodium to maintain water balance. Remember calorie balance between intake and outtake. When I took my metabolic test twice already, I appreciate the great results. When I took a body composition exam at an exercise club twice already, I also appreciate its results as well. Both of those situations are well compared.

First of all, I know how hard it is to lose weight. I have battled with fluctuating weight since my son was born 3 years ago.
When it comes to "diets," you really have to change your tune about them. You should not consider them "diets" because they never work. You need to get into a healthy lifestyle that you can see yourself sticking to for the next 5+ years. Crash diets never work. You may lose a couple pounds, but what heppens when you return to your "normal" eating habits? The weight (and then some) comes right back.
Work yourself into healthy eating patterns. When you go grocery shopping, stick to the outside isles only. Inside isles are for refined sugar and bad carbs. Keep your diet full of variety and colour (veggies). The more colourful the veggie, the better for you it is.
As for exercise, good for you for having the motivation to get to the gym and jog. Having the motivation is the hardest part, next is sticking to it. Try to make time everyday to do some form of exercise. Personally I do yoga and I swear by it. I set aside an hour everyday to do some gentle poses and I go to classes 4+ times a week. In the past 4 months of going to regular classes I have noticed a huge decrease in size. My clothes all fit better and I feel incredible.
Find something that works for you and try to stick with it. Also, make sure your family is involved as well, it won't work if someone next to you is chowing on a bag of chips and you are eating an apple...
All the best! Good luck! You can do it!

For some people it takes a while to lose weight. But what I am doing is cutting down on the portions that I am eating I am drinking a lot of green tea. I am also doing excercise. There needs to be a balance between what you eat and how much you excercise. If you eat a lot and your excercising then you aren't really doing anything. But if your eating less and excercising more than that's doing the job. Try to eat at least five small meals a day to help the stomach digest better and not store so much fat. I hope I was of help have a nice day.

I tried two methods to loss my weight. First was dieting and second was join a gym.
Dieting was effective and i lost a lot of weight and i was very smart but dieting really effect on your health also. So i don't like it.
Best way is exercise in gym. Because it keeps you healthy and your body will look like a model.
I joined gym almost 3 weeks ago and i am looking very good now. And my weight is going down.
I think gym is best way to loss your weight.
Thanks

Loosing weight is a major issue and becoming more and more so. I would suggest you look at what you eat as much as you do to how much and when.
The big food companies put a lot of preservatives and additives in ready prepared food in order for it to have a long shelf life and to make it look appealing. All those additives may actually cause people to gain weight!
The main thing is to eat healthy and exercise. Eating healthy mainly means that you eat about 4 times as much vegetables and fruit as the protein in a meal. This feeds your body complex carbohydrates that your body can use for energy. If your energy level rises so does your metabolism.
Have you heard of the book "Living Well" by Montel Williams. It's written by 4 top consulting doctors and has some fabulous information that can help you not only loose weight but control and minimize the effects of serious diseases. You may know that Montel Williams has Multiple Sclrosis. He is mitigating the effects of this terrible disease, as well as controlling his weight almost entirely with life style changes. Check at your library to see if they have it. You can buy it on Amazon.com and it's well worth the price, but sometimes we just don't have the money to buy a book.
Check it out! And good luck in your weight loss efforts.

It ain't easy at all. But keep on trying. Just eat less than you need. But you need at least couple meals per day. Just well balanced diets. Up to three per day is good. Avoid high fat and sugar stuff. Just take in less calories than you need. And best of all plan at least couple exercises per week, each for about 30 minutes. Importantly, keep your heart rate up. Important thing is: METABOLISM.
