I think I can live without computer. As you said, now is fast growing technology age. So you don't necessary use computer. You can use mobile. Because nowadays, mobile developing as fast as computer. I think in the future I don't use computer, I will use mobile replace computer.

Since my dad is a programmer, I grew up with a computer in the house long before it became the norm among your typical American household, so I have to admit part of the reason I can't imagine life without a computer isn't due to some sort of addiction, but rather due to the fact that I never *knew* life without a computer in the first place. That said, I could probably survive without it for a day or two or even a week or two at the most, but I think you're right. It has now become so ingrained into our modern-day society - not just in our personal lives, but it has become a distinct asset if not a necessity necessity in a lot of our business endeavors as well - that it would be extremely difficult to manage without one. To be completely honest with you, I could manage without a computer as far as just surfing the net "for fun" or socializing on Facebook or playing games go. However, it has become a primary source of staying in touch with people (family and dear friends especially), and has also allowed me so many options as far as pursuing my passions and as far as my businesses go that I could not live without a computer on that scale at all - maybe for a temporary period of time, but certainly never permanently. I am in the performing arts (dance to be exact), and it is a great way to promote your work - you can post it on your website(s) and on YouTube and whatnot, whereas before people in the arts had to move to New York or LA if they ever wanted any prayer of being noticed as far as a professional career is concerned. And I am sure this same principle can apply to any hobby or passion that you have or any line of work - it offers so many options and opportunities in so many areas that you do almost need it if you want more people to notice you or do business with you. It is also a great educational source. It is now possible to take courses online, it is about as comprehensive as you can get as far as research goes - the only disadvantage to that, of course, being that the overwhelming plethora of misinformation that goes around and having to decide which sources are valid and which ones aren't. Of course, there are certain things that humans will always do a better job with than a machine ever will - and man vs. technology has always been an ongoing battle. If you're not careful, sometimes relying too much on technology is a very unpositive thing. Not just as far as computers are concerned, but a lot of our historical tragedies (Titanic, Challenger and Columbia Space Shuttles, and Chernobyl, for instance) occurred partly due to poor decisions made regarding the limits of technology... overconfidence primarily. Sometimes we forget that while technology is a companion of sorts, and does make enable us to have things in our lives we wouldn't have otherwise thought possible, it does not take the place of the human mind, and is not something we can fall back on as some type of savior. So I believe a computer is probably almost essential (if not essential, phenomenally helpful) as far as business, research, and keeping in touch with people, and other conveniences and opportunities in life go, and it is becoming more and more important to be scientifically and technologically literate these days, but in my view, it will never take the place of first hand, hands-on experience, which is why I choose not to use it as some sort of "alternate lifestyle" as some people do.

It really depends. For me, I might not be able to live without a computer since I do all my work via computer. I save files there and modify as well. From suburbs area, they can live without computers since they do have a different lifestyle there. They don't use computers at all, they do have other ways in doing there job. So it really depends on our lifestyles.

It is possible, of course, but we don't necessarily have to like it - at least at first :) I actually have a rule that when I'm away on a vacation or just some time off I do not take my computer or even get close to one. Sure the temptation is great but we really need to remember we have a life outside this computer/internet life and we should take time to enjoy it as well :) At work I used to be connected to the internet and use it a lot for research. But now my office moved to another part of the school and I have no connection there. It started as being just temporarily but I actually liked it that way so I never reminded them that I am not connected yet LOL

dear pre_6 You are quite right in this modern era we can not think without computer whether it may be desktop or laptop. Further without using internet we can not compete with others to know how the technology. In my opinion computer is basic need to our life and it is a part and parcel in our life as it plays a pivotal role in our day to day life, office every nook and corner. pkc3000

Most of my life is tied up on computers_ my articles, my stories, my pictures. The bank has my account on its computer so I can access it. I buy products from Amazon to save on gas. Can I live without a computer? I can and I do. Sometimes I let three or four days pass and I realize I don't have to have one, but I don't want to live without one.

I don't think living without a PC is possible now that the technology evolves as days pass. Frankly I don't use the pc to check my e-mails because I don't receive so many :)) but I use it for things like chatting with friends (less expensive than phone calls), watching moovies (easier than watching @ tv), listening to music I like and many other things. The future can mean only one thing... technology... :) I'm afraid of the day when we'll depend entirely and 100% on the computers (not that we don't depend now, we have hospitals / police stations etc that depend on pc's). So my answer is NO. Maybe 20-30 years ago or earlier u could, but not now !

I think I could survive but I think life would be harder. I would have to use the post office again to mail bills, and ballance the check book. I would need to get the paper out to see what movies are playing. Then again I think I would have a lot more time on my hands. Maybe we should try a week with out it and see how we feel.

You know what? for me I mean for our time this days, living without a computer is hard to imagine. I might get sick without it or I might get crazy for sometime. But we also knew that before the computer is invented people is living in their own way of life. So the answer is, yeah we can still make still live in this world without a computer.

I guess it is possible, it isn't exactly an essential thing to have to survive. However increasingly it is a really important part of life now, I know I'd find it difficult to go without my laptop for a day neve mind a week.
