How do you tell your friend that you can't go out with him anymore?

One of my best friends is a guy who used to date another of my friends... that's how I met him. Well, when they broke up, he and I started hanging out a lot and we went out almost every night. Then, after about a year, he just disappeared! I didn't hear from him at all til around Christmas and he called to tell me he had joined the Army. Good for him! But, anyway, he's home now (he's in the reserves) and he wants to pick up where we left off, but I have a boyfriend now and he knows that, he's even met him, but he still thinks I should go out and party with him and leave my boyfriend home with the kids. How do I explain to him that that's just not possible without hurting his feelings?

Do you really think there is a way not to hurt his feelings? Oh come on, be realistic and honest. Just tell him plainly that you have someone special and that he is not anymore in your heart. That hurts, but it's his fault because you were not informed when he left. Good day!

True enough! He should have told me he was leaving, guess I never thought of it that way.
