We named our black cat Algebra.
One of our really good friends got a cat and his four year old nephew said "I think he looks smart, let's name him Arithmetic".
We think our cat is pretty smart too, so we named him Algebra to follow suit!

We've had quite a few names going on around here. My Rainbow Angels, Divot and Baffy, were named by their first Dad who was a golf pro. A Baff is an obsolete golf club shaped like a slotted spoon used to scoop balls out of carriage ruts. Peaches, already named, came from Georgia, so that seemed right. Josie, named for her coat of many colors, is a calico. Arthur came with the name R-2; he is a prince, so Arthur suited him. Paisley is another calico whose name suits her. My first cat was named by my daughters, Patches; it was either that or Sunshine. Another Rainbow Angel was a black green-eyed Turkish Angora who was Claire, or Lady Claire; she was both regal and very sweet.

Well I named my guinea pig Tsukasa which is the name of a character in a Japanese Manga. I really like the name and it has grown on him. I don't think I would change it at all. Algebra is a pretty name.

i adopted my cat last december and he already had a name Gumby. so since he is 8 years old, i didnt want to confuse him and change his name. so i added a middle name--D'Arcy. my late pets all had middle names as well. my 3 late shihtzus were also adopted, and my late cat, my mother named her.

I always try to think of something original. Some examples are: PITA - Pain In The A**, E.T. - First and last letter of Empty Nest, NAC - Not Another Cat. It's fun to come up with something that no one else has thought of it. I don't know about you but I usually end up calling them some other nickname anyway.
