probably. I uninstalled limewire coz it was slowing my computer down so much but my sister reinstalled it. Also our security is incredibly c**p so we probably have tons of Trojans/virus.

does it really work? because I have downloaded many virus/trojan detectors and fixers none of which work. Also, do not install IE anti virus whatever you do. It in itself is a trojan I believe.

Limewire and other file-sharing sites are notorious for spreading viruses and trojans. Stay away from them! This is the price you pay for stealing music. Some people are lucky and don't get them but when you're dealing with other peoples' computers, you're bound to damage your own at some time or other. There are so many free downloads around. Many artists offer free downloads so that you'll get interested in their music and hopefully buy the cds. And when you steal the music with Limewire and other file-sharing programs, you're robbing them of their paychecks. Would you like to work all day for free? That's what you're asking them to do. "Free" things often extract a price you're not willing to pay. You can get cheap music through Amazon.com or any number of really cheap sites. Many are free through the record company or the artist. I'm a musician and although I've never published anything, I'd be really ticked off at someone who stole my music. I have bills to pay and children to support and by stealing what I've worked to create, you're doing nothing different from a thief that breaks into my house and takes my stuff. Most of us are having financial trouble these days but that's no reason to steal. There's plenty of free stuff out there. Sorry for the rant and I'm really sorry you got a virus but this is a sore point with me. Hope your computer can recover from this.

No, not really because we only downloads the songs that has bitrate and we usually scan it so that we know if it has a virus or not.

I uninstalled my Limewire last month, after I caught a virus. I think it was trojan. Since then I never attempted to download it again.

I did once, and then I had to reformat my computer and I never put it back on. Ever since that day I have used Ares and nothing else, and since using Ares I don't get any viruses from there. Also I'm really careful now, anytime I download anything from ares, I scan it with my anti-virus first before opening it, regardless if its a song, video, movie, or program.

before when i started using it, i was looking for free games to download, and i downloaded a "rar" file that was suspiciously fast, the download was over in no more the 3 mins. so i scanned the file using my anti-virus and true enough, a trojan. so now i pay attention to the file details especially its size. the file that is always on top of everything no matter what you search, is a virus installer, the one that's around 3MB big. i think i dowloaded that before, it will ask you to install an "exe" file. the one that doenst have a bitrate. and it's named after every file search you type. but now, i dont get viruses anymore. im a "limewire veteran" already.

I have been told that you don't get a virus from Limewire per se but that you could get one from anyone of the computers that you connect to which is infected with a virus. I have had some prooblems with my limewire client and I just gave up on it.

I've caught some low-threat viruses from limewire. It is a good thing that my antivirus program removed it efficiently. Getting those viruses seem like warnings that I should be more careful from downloading stuff from limewire. Now, I'm really careful when I download from limewire. and I also make sure that I update my antivirus daily... :)
