Boris Johnson has won the mayoral election =p Are you suprised by this news? Can he really carry the weight of London on his shoulders? Share your opinions... In his speech he paid tribute to Ken Livingstone and also said that he hoped "to discover a way in which mayoralty can continue to benefit from your transparent love of London" Ken Livingstone apologized to the Labour party, saying "I accept the responsibility and I regret that I couldn't take you to victory" However, Lib Dem candidate Brian Paddick also paid tribute to Ken Livingstone "as an amazing mayor" but (straight from the BBC) "indicated he would not be interested in working with Mr Johnson" Here's the article from the BBC http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7380947.stm Learn more about Boris Johnson here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk_politics/7376621.stm

I am not overtly surprised, I expected it to be a tight run between Boris and Ken. In a totally non-political and shallow way I am glad he won it just because I find him rather likeable and Red Ken gives me the creeps! I'm interested to see how well he does and whilst he does come across as a buffoon I expect that there is much more to the man than meets the eye. I think the Lib Dem should not have dismissed working with Boris as getting involved a bit more couldn't hurt his party plus keep your friends close and your enemies closer.
