Felted Soap

A few months ago I was playing around with felting soap. Since I'm a soapmaker and I sell my soap, I thought it might be a good addition to my shop. I felted 3 bars of 2 different soaps.
One of the women I wholesale to saw them and wanted a "sample" so I sent her 2, one of each type I'd felted.
Almost immediately she asked how many I had and she wanted them all. Yesterday she told me she's having a "Spring Fling" show for her shop and wanted 6 of each of my felted soaps.
It's a lot of work to felt them, but she pays me a good price. I'm so thrilled that after making soap for 10 years I've finally got a reliable outlet for them.
You can see pictures in my Etsy shop. www.thebeaddoodler.etsy.com . Just click on "not at all beady" in the sections index.
Thanks for being such good listeners here on MyLot. Sometimes I just need a place to express my excitement.

What an absolutely neat idea. I have never heard about this before. They are lovely. Good luck with your sales. I am glad you found a good outlet for them.

Hahahahaha. I have to finish finals first so I have the time to quilt. Plus, finish my sister's birthday gift (which is now done). The dolls were something I could get up right away.

Thank you. I looked at your Etsy page and your blog. Those yarn buddies are the cutest thing I've seen since the "lifesaver dolls" my mother used to make. But seriously, get quilting, and be sure to charge a fair price.

I have used similar soaps before but I was looking for one few months ago and could not find them and they used to be available in many stores. They are great as they dont slip. I dont use soaps now in fact my husband wanted one few weeks ago and I could not find one in the house then I remembered I had 2 that came in a gift box and gave him those.

I see you're in Australia. The US can be a little behind in trends, and Texas seems to be the most resistant state in the union. LOL. Most of the sites I found telling about felted soaps are in the northern part of the US.

Wow, those are pretty cool!
You had me going for a bit, though. I was wondering how in the heck one could felt soap?
Personally, I think it's a misnomer and very misleading. The soap isn't felted, the covering is. But hey, if it works for you and sells, I guess that's all that counts.
Good luck!

LOL. My daughter lives in Eugene Oregon and she told me about these really cool soaps she had seen at the Country Fair a couple of years ago. I started researching and found lots of instructions on the internet. They are indeed called Felted Soaps.
I was afraid the bar of soap would be all gone by the time I got the roving to pack and shrink around it, but that didn't happen. They are novel.
