Important information on your oral health (teeth)

I am a certified dental assistant and i wanted to share some information with you guys. 1) It ideally to brush teeth 2 times a day and floss 1 but as a dental assistant we say brush after every time you eat or at least have sugars. This is important for those who do not bursh when they go to bed or have dry mouth because you are not producing enough saliva and causing the decay to rapidly grow and eat your enamel(the white part of the teeth) which can then result cavities or root canels. Another important thing to know is that people let their toddlers brush their own teeth- what we say is that if he can't tie up his own shoelace he can not brush his own teeth. (you should see how many children come in like that-ouch!) 2) ***Very important- If you or anyone you know that bulmia or just vomits do NOT bursh your teeth right away. This is because the stomach acid will eat your teeth away. You must wait at least 1hour before you brush otherwise you will be taking the enamel of your teeth too. 3) I am not sure how many of you know this but always brush your teeth and children teeth after taking medince beacause the concentration of sugar that is in medication is crazy. You go sleep with that and you will be getting cavity.

Thanks for the information! I have receding gums from lack of care when I was married. I get my teeth cleaned twice a year now and am going to have to have a graft on one of my teeth--the gum has receded nearly down to the bone. It takes so little time to care for teeth but if you don't take that time, you'll be VERY sorry!
