why do most of guys love to drink alcoholic liquors ?

Hey guys!! i have just noticed that mostly guys love to drink wine or beer? anybody there can tell me the reason why they prefer to drink those bitter taste wine and beer than softdrinks?

I think its just a macho guy thing. My friend drinks alot and he says it's because it makes him feel better when he's in pain or tired. He doesn't understand that it changes his personality/if he drinks too much he acts like a jerk.
