Eight year old Bruce Wayne falls into a cave where he encounters a swarm of bats.Bruce develops a fear of bats , and later urges his parents to leave an opera featuring bat-like creatures.Outside the theater Bruce's parents are killed in a robbery by a mugger.Bruce blames himself for his parents murder.Had he not been frightened,Waynes would not have encountered a mugger.He is taken in by a mysterious instructor named Ducard and urged to become a ninja in a league of shadows,but he instead returns to his native Gotham city resolved to end the mob rule that is strangling it.Bruce finds that Gotham city has become overrun with crime and corruption,and there are forces at work trying to remove him from his inherited place as the owner of the Wayne industries.Discovering a cave under Wayne manor,Bruce assumes a new identity as a secret detective and guardian of the people in Gotham city against criminals that plague them.
