How old of a discussion do you respond to?

When you respond to discussions do you respond to everything or do you respond to only recent discussions? Whats your cut off for the age of a discussion you respond to? If you do have you ever had someone inform you that this discussion was over a year old. I had someone respnd like that to one i had responded to...i thought it was just a bit odd to make a comment about how long ago you created the discussion, wouldnt you be happy if someone responded to it at anytime? I would no matter how long ago i asked the question unless it was time important.

i don't think people should say 'why are you responding to this it's so 3-years ago!?' because this is a discussion website. if the discussions were meant to stop being interesting, there would be a function somewhere to disable further comments on it. i never refrain from contributing to a discussion i'm interested in simply because it was posted a long time ago! and yes if it were my discussions, i would be happy to see someone respond to them even after a long time had passed. in fact i WISH some of my old stuff would be 'revived' by people like you and i who don't mind reading so-called 'old news' :)

exactly! i only sometimes look at when the discussion was posted...like if it is relevant to te topic, like 'i'm going to the doctor's next week...any ideas?' etc...where the poster mentions a 'schedule' for lack of a better word ;)

I rarely even look at how old the discussions are. I responded on one that was a year old, and received the BR. If its that old, and no BR is given, its still open as far as I'm concerned. I think the person who responded to you was rude. I've only been here just over a month, so none of my discussions are that old, but I'll tell ya that if someone responds to any of my first discussions, I'm happy.

none of mine arent that old either. I never even check to see if a BR has been given when i post.

I do not really look at the time scale at all, so there is no set period during which I would respond. I have also had responses to discussions that I started over a year ago, so it seems that I am not the only one with this opinion.

I will respond to any discussion that interests me, no matter how old, or if the BR has already been chosen. I answer discussions from my e-mail, and for the most part I keep up with them fairly well. But if there is a time that I am not able to keep up with the discussions, I will still answer them once I do get the chance.
