My wife got 3 strawberry plants from her boss last spring and we got 5 strawberries from threm all. Now this year they have really spread and we have about 25 or so plants. This is one of them and it is very healthy looking. Hoping to get a lot of strawberries this year. What fruits have you got growing in your garden(s)?

I believe I already told you about my strawberries, but mine are wild..I also have wild blackberry, wild black raspberry and domestic red raspberry bushes..I love the red raspberry bushes because they produce fruit 2X a year..But since I had replanted them last year, I don't know if I will get much..

I recall you mentioning this as well as the trees etc. The red rasberry we have is called everharvest. They produce fruits from June until october or so every few weeks new fruits pop up. These are wild strawberries as well i think. the few we got last year off of them were so sweet. Can't wait for a lot more this year.

Yummy! It's too bad you can't do some virtual sharing. : ) I don't have any fruits blooming around here. Our apartment building has some lovely roses and lilies sprouting now, but no fruit. I grew up in a house with a peach tree behind it. We would always wait for them, but sometimes our next door neighbor would climb the fence and take them!

MMMMMMM AGB I love strawberries. We don't really have much growing in terms of fruit , just the apple and pear tree which we got plenty of fruit off of last year! We do have potatoes and carrots planted too but we will have to wait and see how these go this year - they did really well a couple of years ago but not so well last year! xxx

For some of us, you've got to first ask "Have you got a garden to grow fruits?" For me, the answer is no. It's mostly highrise living here, where our home is an apartment, so we don't have a garden. And so it is with many of the folks here, unless they stay in a landed property like a house. I'd love to have a garden though where I can plant some flowering plants and fruit trees and shrubs, unfortunately I don't have such a luxury. That's why when I go traveling to places like Australia and New Zealand, I'll go to the berry farms to pick fresh berries like strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, and then enjoy these fresh fruits with ice cream right there at the farm. I love seeing the fruits in season at such farms. On my many travels, I have visited farms and plantations that have oranges, apples, all the berries mentioned earlier, grapes, kiwifruit, bananas and pineapples.

I figured that asking this would also entail members answering if they did have the area to garden if at all. But I correct one of your statements, there are people that do not own a home that do have gardens. Ever hear of pot gardens friend? Some people have a garden growing in small pots on a patio etc. Thank you very much.

You've got a point there, grandpa Bob. There are some people here who do make use of their apartment balconies to keep potted plants, but usually these are the smaller flowering and non-flowering plants, and not those bearing fruit. It's hard to grow fruit trees unless one has a reasonable garden plot on the ground. The kind of fruits that are grown here given our climate are those where the plants or trees are pretty big, so they are not practical to be grown in pots in high-rise patios and balconies.

I don't have any fruits, but based on what I'm hearing about putting something in alongside the house, I may end up getting some strawberries after all.
I may look up some recipes and if I find enough making it worthwhile, I might just give it a go. There's only so much shortcake two people can eat, and I don't care for them just by themselves.

Fresh grown strawberries are a great snack all by themselves. No need for shortcake etc to eat em. They are great dipped into powdered sugar and especially in chocolate. So get growing.

I have two cherry trees, an apple tree, a pear trea, and a volunteer peach tree. The fruit trees have all bloomed, and I should have my first cherries in May sometime. They are two different varieties and have fruit at different times.

Well we have mangoes and jackfruits and pomegranate in the backyard. Oh yes, coconuts and betelnuts too. The coconuts and betelnuts are too much for our own consumption so we sell them. The mango tree has borne fruit twice or thrice before but they were quite tart. We think that the tree is not yet fully matured. We had high hopes this year but nor’westers in March poured water on our hopes. The pomegranate tree is quite young too and it would be some years before it can bear fruit.

We do have black berries at work. They are in full bloom! they are SO pretty!
I still have access to the old place and will get some muscadines if they do well. Last year we had 3 black berries and no muscadines.

My mother has a green thumb. I swear she just throws the seed to the ground and you'll be sure to find a plant growing there in a week's time. Anyways, we have guava and avocado trees at the backyard. We have honeydew too.

..frozen strawberries in a blender with some milk and a little sugar or a banana makes a great milkshake! That's if ya ever have enough left over to freeze.. which around here would be quite a feat..

I love strawberry grandpa bob! I wish i can plant here in my place. But,.. Kuta beach is too hot for strawberries. I hear that near the mountain of Batur, farmer planted there. And Your size of strawberry is bigger than Indonesian Strawberies. I want to go there sometimes at gunung Batur(Batur mountain) and see the strawberries plants.

Hi GRANDPA BOB! Wow! I do think you're going to have a lot of strawberries! I just love making strawberry smoothies. We do have papaya, banana, chico and jackfruits. And the three are of them are bearing fruits at the moment except for the bananas. Take care and have a nice day!

I haven't planted anything yet, but had watermeons last year.. They were ok, but had too many seeds and were a bit mushy inside, not firm like a good watermelon.. Not sure what I did wrong, but will learn as time goes by..

Strawberries, yum yum. I bought some today as a matter of a fact, and didn't stop until there were no more left. Of all, that is my favorite berry. Good luck with the plants.
