Is your toilet plunger the bell or the bellows?

toilet Plunger - This toilet plunger is bell shaped, and is probably the one that most people choose for their dirty jobs. Its made with a wooden handle attached to a red rubber bell.

As a man of many toilets, I'd like to take a minute to talk about plungers! There are two types, I have one of each and can't make up my mind which is best. The bell shape is easier to Plunge but splashes more water, and takes more strokes to be effective. It seems to work OK depending on the size of the job at hand. The bellows Type is a Mean Plunger in that it holds a lot more water, but its much harder to push, and when the job at hand is a Big one you must go gently for the first few strokes and then go hard for the big one. Usually 3 or 4 strokes is all it takes. Another problem with the bellows Type is on a Big Job it will sometimes turn inside out and will have to be turned right way back, with the chance of splashing water on the bathroom floor. Which type do you prefer? And what problems have your plunger presented?

I have both types but i like the bellows type it really does the job, maybe its harder to use but to me it is worth the effort..If i were plunging the sink or bathtub i would use the bell shape, its easy to use on tubs and sinks...so far i have not had any problems with my plunger..I am married to a plumber and if the job gets to big,he will run a snake down the toilet...

Ooh! a Plumber, How convenient! so he has a big snake? Speaking of Snakes! I ate a snake,in Vietnam. This snake was cut in small pieces,deep-fried, BBQed and made into snake noodle soup. It was a Cobra, and the restaurant staff brought it into the room and let it go so we could see our snake before we ate it.Scary but, What a Meal That was!

I'm a bell-type plunger fan all the way. I'm a petite woman with little upper-body strength, so the bellows-type plunger is usually just too frustrating to be effective for me. Though, I agree, it does seem to be much more powerful when I do get to work! :)

Yes, in our house we have a his and a her's toilet! And (would you know it) I'm not allowed to use hers for fear that I might plug it! Needless to say, if she plugs hers she plunges it herself. Not because I won't, but because she won't ask me!

We have always used the bell type plunger. I got tired of the bellows type turning inside out.
