I now know how to justify my time on mylot!

I was responding to a comment someone left on my discussion today which stated that she didn't want to leave her house because everytime she does it costs her $100. I got to thinking about that and realized what a great way to justify being on here all day long. I'll save money! Its true, you leave the house to go and buy one item and you come home $100 lighter. So thats my new justification for staying here all day long. Won't my boyfriend be thrilled? Whats yours?

hmmm... I never thought about it this way but now I'm thinking about today and yesterday. Yesterday I went grocery shopping. It cost me 20 in gas, (the store is quite a distance), $150 for groceries, $50 in household supplies and I bet I spent at least another $20 on unplanned items. Then today I remembered a whole list of things I had forgotten but needed. So another $20 in gas and $$60 in food and items I had forgotten. Wow I don't want to leave anymore either lol. Of course this is not to mention the time lost working my online programs and whatever was lost for not working lol.

Maybe try mail order groceries? Save a lot on gas!

Since I don't have my own car, and have to share the one hubby uses for work, I typically only leave the house on Friday's to do grocery shopping, and I spend nearly $300 before I return home. That's $60 for smokes, $20 for a half tank of gas, and $200 for groceries. Sittin here all day doesn't really justify why my house is a wreck, but with 5 kids, nobody will ever know I didn't just clean this morning :D

For me I have a family to take care of so I cant spend as much time here as I would like to the thing is my kids are more important to me than being here on mylot. I would reather be helping them with there homework or reading to them than on here. Yes I can ern some money on here but money cant replace what I have with my kids.

I understand that and agree. I was just kidding about justifying your time.

Lol, that's pretty funny. And, if you add the cost of gas, then she can save even more. I'm kinda the same way. If I am not going out to work or the gym, I am shopping, but only for necessities. However, it is spending money. Now, I can stay home and not shop, but that might mean going hungry.

I don't spend as much time as when I just joined on myLot now,but I will continue myLotting.I think it's great to share ideas and I can improve my English at the same time. It's getter hotter and hotter in Xi'an,the westeast of China,it's only May,but outside is like a fireplace. That's kind of a reason I don't want to get out ,I just sit home myLotting.

Since I have made a little pocket money here, why not I go out once in a while to please myself with a cup of aromatic hot coffee in the familiar coffee shop? Or sometimes I might be lucky that to come upon friends, very often they might give me a treat

Well thats true. If you have the money to go out and spend, why not. I just meant it in a lighthearted manner.

its really true that going out actually makes us spend so much money. may be that is a valid reason for her to not leave this place and being on mylot for longer time. but its not so lucrative for me either.

I was really just kidding about the whole thing. But lets face it we can earn money sitting here and spend less by doing so.

You're right. Every time I leave the house, I wind up spending more than I wanted. So actually, this site is saving me money! Now I don't mind being on here so much.

My justification is about the same as yours. If I am here I am actually making money rather than spending it! Quick question..How come you and Pye have the same puppy avatar suddenly? And who's puppy is it? Oops, I guess thats 2 questions.

Its not just pye and I that have these avatars. You will probably see more people that have them as time progresses. Its in honor of our friend that was recently deleted. It was her avatar.

Heeyy... that's actually my new months' resolution I realize I'm quite a bit of a shopaholic cause I can't stand not buying anything when I'm out and passing those cute little stores displaying those cute little items with their tempting sales. At times I'm broke right after pay day. So I've tried staying at home when I have free time. I try to clean, cook, watch tv, read books, and of course browsing the internet. But then, I'd browse online shops, with the intentions of just browsing, and buy things anyway. I guess I really do have a problem

How do you think I feel? I work in retail. I can't get away from shopping if I try. But I get the best deals. Yesterday I bought a Homedics Deep Tissue Massaging Cushion for $16? Can you believe it?

Oh wow.. you work in retail? I can't imagine the challenges I'd have to go through everyday surrounded by goods and knowing I can get a huge employee discount. It would be more like a volunteer job coz all the money they pay me would go straight back to them. People like me should stay away from retail related jobs

Well I go out and it doesn't cost me anything. I have no money so I can't use that as an excuse for staying home, but if I am out I am not making money but if I am sitting here on this site or writing I am making money so that is important to me and that is my justification for being here so much.

Thats almost more of a justification than going out to spend money.
• United States
5 May 08
I agree. Every time we go out we spend ridiculous amounts of money on gas and that is without buying anything else. With prices rising like they are, I can't even afford to visit my friends. If I don't get a chance to talk to them on the phone, at least I can come over to mylot and not feel lonely. There's always something to talk about going on here.

The cost of gas does make you think twice about leaving home thats for sure. I think everyone is doing alot less driving for pleasure because of it.

Hehe...well it's true that if one stays home one won't spend money...I mean I find it's always the case, even if one goes to the supermarket...you plan on only getting a FEW things, then wonder why you not only feel like you're pumping iron with the heaviness of your groceries...and I don't have a car so have to lug home....and why your wallet just became a lot lighter. I have a tendency to stay home more near the end of the month when money is tighter and don't have the means to get everything I want anyway..so yup, stay home and do more myLotting..uh, love your avatar...geee...seems familiar..hehe

Look, we're twins. LOL. See by staying home on mylot, you are saving yourself money, back strain from carrying your purchases home, the chance of being hit by a bus or bit by a dog. Makes perfect sense to me.

I must say that I am still kidding myself and saying that I am "here for the money" but there is so much wonderful social interaction and I am writing what comes to mind and also practicing typing skills so I am benefiting even without the desired and waited for payouts. I will also say that this site pays more than other writing sites like Helium, etc. and is more fun to participate in because the conversations here are short and cover a broad area of topics.

I agree, I enjoy the social interaction also. I think for many its also a sense of validation. That what they have to say is important, that their opinion really does matter.

Well that actually is one great way to justify the time spend here, well yes every time we are out of the house our pocket does get lighter not just when you are out shopping but even when you walk out leisurely , a soft drink here ,a burger there and lol you become poorer every hour we are out. well its' really nice to spend time here and earn instead of spending
