Well, its quite difficult since being friends for nearly two years, one can simply hesitate into stepping it up. I mean, if he's really not certain if asking you out would be good. Some of the hesitations would imply uncertainties like, "I only think of you as a friend.." kind of replies which does makes the confession end badly. It gets awkward after that. Its not easy to suddenly change the way on how you look at a friend to suddenly as someone as your partner in an intimate way. But then, you can solve such awkwardness if the one who did confess is resolute. That way, even if the one who confessed is seemingly rejected by not being replied in a clear way, being determined and unwavering on the matter would surely alleviate things. Now, if I were you, I'd just go for it and be determined whatever happens. Who knows, both of you might be really feeling the same way towards each other? Oh yeah, that's just me thinking out loud. Consider it just an opinion to think about.

he's been your friend for almost two years now, so, you must know his character...Assess him and if you think it would take him years to just ask you out for a date, then, why not ask him instead for a date..after that, things will fall into place..but dont tell him you LOVE him after your first date..he might be shocked at the rate things are goin' with both of you..wait for awhile and test the water...

you might want to tell him you love him dearly... tell him in a friendly way not romantically. i guess that is where he will get hints to start it up if he does like you a lot too.

i think as you are good friend with this guy for 2 years, it must be very easy for you to actually read his mind. may be you can feel whether he feels the same way as you but shy of admitting. if that is the case, you can go ahead.

You may start considering to change your strategy. Send him a signal that you love him. Mostly a man always appreciate a woman who can create for him a chance to love. Man didn't mention it out just because of he's not ready emotionally. Don't chase him, or he'll run away. As a result, you'll need more time if so. By helping him of creating chance, it will most likely quicker for him to mention it out. But don't hope too much, whatever the answer is, you should accept it with heart's opened.

You really have to tell him that you feel something special towards him before anything goes wrong. Now, its up to him to decide what he will do about your confession. There are consequences that might happened after your confession to him and that you must be ready for whatever it is, whether it is positive or negative at least you tried to tell him. Second, to avoid stress and sleepless nights because after you will tell him everything will be fine and its time for you to move on and continue your plans in life or you will have enough time to find another if in case he don't feel the same way towards you.

It's hard to say.You need to make sure that he feels the same way, cause you may scare him off and loose a great friend.
