how much could you grease a politicians hand with?

Well, I know politics is corrupt and its payoff this one and that one to get what you want. Say your not wealthy like some people, but you need to achieve something. Would greasing a couple of palms with 20 bucks do it? Because writing letters has not gotten me anywhere? We need some land of our own and I wrote to the Criminal Assets Bureau to see if we could buy something cheap, nope - wrote about 20-30 letters to a bunch of politicians. Do I go see them personally and slip a 20? Or do we need to have thousands available.
