if you saw someone being hurt, kidnapped, a car being broken into? If the crime did not involve you, would you call the police?

I'd be on my cell phone the minute I saw any of these things happening. I would like to think that if the tables were turned and I was the victim someone would do the same for me.

Thank you for your response! I'd like to think the same, but having been victimized as many times as I have, I wonder, hence the question, lol. My car has been broken into twice and my home once, and at no time did anyone call the police. And I know for a fact people heard and saw, living in an apartment assures you that. And my apartment was robbed during the day and my neighbor was home. OY!

If I was witness to a crime, yes, I'd call the police-- as long as I was in a safe position to do so. If I had to ensure my own safety first, I'd do so, and then call. Unfortunately, not everyone feels compelled to offer that sort of assistance. When I was robbed a few months ago, someone drove up as I was laying in the parking lot(being sat upon and having my pockets gone through). The people robbing me fled, and the woman who'd driven up asked if I was alright. I was sort of rattled and gave her one answer or another(no idea what I really said), and she just said okay and went on inside of her apartment. The police never heard a peep from her and I had no idea who she was so we never located her. Too bad, because she probably got a very good look at the people who attacked me. So anyway, yes, if I were to happen upon a crime, I'd call the police. LOL

I really hope that most of us would, when leaving my apartments one time, I saw a guy standing really close to a car I knew didn't belong to him and acting very suspiciously (same place I was victimized 3 times) and I drove down the street as I was on my way out anyways and called the police to report the suspicious activity...only to see him and the person who owned the vehicle pull into the very gas station I pulled into to get gas together!

You know, it's a shame crime has become so commonplace that people will go about their daily business rather than help out someone in need. It's a crying shame. I certainly hope they didn't get much from you, and thank goodness you're okay.

You had better believe it. If a person did not, they are no better than the one(s)that broke in and thats what is wrong with the world today, no one wants to get involved.

I definitely would call the police for help in this situation. I can't stand to see someone being hurt, abused, or taken advantage of in any way. I know a lot of people feel they should mind their own business, but I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't do something to help someone. The only thing to consider when calling for help, is knowing for sure what you saw or witnessed. Write down license plate numbers, make/model & color of vehicles, color of people's clothing, color of hair, skin, eyes, height, gender, beard, mustache, etc. Basically, get as much description as you can to actually do some good.

Honestly I would. There was this one time though, that I really screwed up. I saw a person's parked car, that I know is a great person, get hit by another car of a wealthy person. The wealthy person looked around to see if there were any witnesses and ran. I'm not sure if they saw me or not. I am so ashamed I didn't report it.

And I am sure your conscience has been plenty active over that. Karma will get that wealthy guy.

My cell phone is my life-line. I don't go anywhere without it. I've used it to call the police before for suspicious activity - no shame there.

No doubt about it. If it was something that happened to a child or an eldery person, the cops better get there and take care of it before I do.
