Preteen Girls Give Parents Gray Hair!

My daughter had her 12th birthday party here on Saturday. It consisted of me taking her and 5 of her friends to a movie and then a sleep over.
Before leaving I told every girl they could have one snack of choice, on bag of candy, and one drink since no one could agree on any one thing.
I spent $67 at WalMart getting chips, sodas, juices, candies, things to make a banana split, breakfast for the next morning which consisted of 6 different kinds of fruit for a fruit salad and 2 bakery packages of cinnamon rolls.
Then we get back to the house and I somehow get roped into doing cheerleading mounts and things with these girls. I haven't been a cheerleader since I was 13. I am going to be 30 in a month but I surprised even myself when I was still able to do a split, a back arch, a back walkover, and be a base to 3 different 100 pounds girls for the mounts.
I thought the experience would make me feel "young" again. And it did. Until the next morning. I woke up and my arms were stiff, my back was screaming curse words at me in a language I didn't understand, and my legs felt like they had gained 75 pounds a piece. And when I went to take my shower what should I find growing out of my head? 1 white hair! I'm mostly native american so the changes of my hair turning gray is slim. It looks like it will go straight to white.
Now I am positive that hair was not there on Friday because my 20 year old stylist likes to spend a good 20 minutes searching for them every time she cuts my hair. But Sunday morning there it was!
You won't find it now though. I ripped it out and set it on fire. No evidence it ever existed.
When did your hair start going gray/white? Or if you are a guy when did you start losing your hair?
Do you believe that your kids give you gray hair? I have proof that mine did!

Well since I have no kids I wouldn't say that they are graying my. It's not that I don't have the desire to have a kid. It's just unaffordable and I'm still young enough to want to live my life.. I can honestly say that my hair is still the color of honey. I guess with only me to worry about that doesn't make my life to hetic. My Bf and I have a decent relationship and I'm not going to push it to go any further at this time.

I thought you said you destroyed the evidence? Huh?
I'm Canadian, a cross of English and French.
In my family it is common for the women to begin turning gray at 30 and be completely gray by the time they are in their 50's.

I did destroy the evidence. It went up in flames. lol This discussion is purely hypothetical. I admit to nothing :)
I almostthink it would be neat to have a strip of white hair down one side of my head. No more than 40 strands or so.
This is what I get for being a comic book kid growing up. I will have to change my name to Rouge. lol

Well I'm over halfway to the 50 mark from 30, when it began. There's no use pulling them out now, there's just too many.
Good news is the Red Henna I have always liked to use covers them without unnatural chemicals. The grey ones are the reddest, so it gives several different hues of red, which is cool.

I found my first gray hair last year (at age 31!)....and now I have more of them. I don't know if the reason is being mother to two active boys (who get in my hair all the time!) or my husband ( who makes sure I don't have a single stress-free day...even days when the boys are being darlings!). NOw, I've got quite a few of the gray hairs in the same area and will soon end up looking like Indira Gandhi!
I'm surprised you could do the split and back arch after so many years! It's just 9 years since I stopped dancing (classical Indian style which has back arch) and I can't even think of doing one thing now.

I think I was just showing off and my body protested for days afterwards. I don't think I will be doing anymore of those in the forseeable future. lol

I don't even have a preteen girl what the he11 is my excuse? Life I guess...oh well- I'm going for a color soon just in case!

I only dye my hair twice a year. Once in the summer to make it lighter so my tan looks darker and once in the fall to make it dark again so my roots don't show. So far that one was all I have encountered but it is possible it was just the stress.

lol I got my first gray hair at 24 years old. I found it and freaked out. I immediately yanked it. My husband laughed and said "good job, now 10 more will replace it". I laughed and didn't really believe him.
However within a month I had several grays. Now I think the yanking it thing is an old wives tale but I have had to dye my hair ever since. (I really don't like gray lol)
So if you end up with 10 more next week don't be suprised lol.
And yes, I do think kids cause gray. I have been blaming them for the gray their whole lives. To which they laugh and respond yay we made mom gray.

4 weeks and counting and still no more grey, or white in my case. Maybe it was just a fluke. lol

Im amazed that you could even walk after all of that. I'm 25 and there is no way I would walk the next day after doing spilts and everything else. It would not be able to move the next day.
Getting one grey hair after all that is nothing to worry about that. Just wait till she gets to high school... :) You'll be saying this same thing every day. Its lucky you are Native American and most likely won't get grey hair.
I'm sure I gave my mom all kinds of grey hairs. There wasn't a day where I didn't do something stupid. I'm kind of amazed that she still can walk around as much as she with me.
Just think of it as keeping you flexible and young, and never mind the grey hairs. Thankfully, they will only have one 12th birthday, better live it up!

Next big event for her I have to plan for is her 16th birthday. My avatar is my only other girl and there is 10 years between her and my 12 year old so I am sure by the time I am having this party for her I should have a head full of white hair. lol
