Why is it such a big trend?

What is the big deal with weed? Does it make you feel good? Does it make you laugh? Is it good for anything except to get high? Sometimes I see kids that come to my school all high and doped up. They are the kids that no parent wants their kids to be like. Maybe some of you were those kids. I just want to know what the big deal with it is. I see so many of my peers and some of my elders doing it. I just want to know if I'm missing something good. I highly(no pun intended) doubt that I am. I mean all you do,from what I can tell,is sit somewhere and laugh at everything and eat. That's pretty much what I can get out of people that have tried it. So I'm pretty sure that if that's what I wanted to be like all the time, I could do it all by myself, without any weed involved.
