Why do things always happen in three?

Why do things good or bad always happen in three? What's with this number? Last week three aweful things happened to my family.
1) My baba (grandmother) passes away on friday.
2) My hubby losses his job
3) My son came home from school with a bad report from his teacher.
Not only does the threes happen with luck but I work in a nursing home and I notice when a resident dies, two other's always follow~
Why can't just one thing happen instead of three?
Can you think of three things in order that have happened to you good or bad?

Im expecting the third to happen soon. My boyfriend lost his mum in january this year and has just recently lost his grandad (mums dad). Not sure when the thired will happen, hopefully it will be something good!!
