I do. It makes some people mad but the way I see it if they don't have that much it is not going to hurt a thing.

I do, because I would want people to do that for me. I think it is just common courtesy. It really makes it worth while when people thank you. Sometimes it's expected and you don't get a thank you.

Oh Yes, all the time, and my kids look at me and say, "Mom"! They get mad at me cuz they think it takes much longer to leave the store then, but I feel bad if I don't. I know I would like people to let me go ahead of them if I only had 1 item, or even just a few.

I feel the same way. Sometimes we have been waiting in line for a long time and then somebody asks if they can get in front of us because they only have a couple of items. That is why Most stores have express lanes and self checkout lanes as well. Use them.

It depends. If the person is elderly or just seems nice on first impression, I usually let them go ahead of me. If it's some hot shot with cellphone glued to his head, looking like he's better than everyone else, or if s/he is all agitated and mad looking, I'll spite them and purposely not yield my position.

If I've got a cartload of groceries and the person behind me only has a few things, I'll let them go ahead of me. I know that I would hate being behind someone with a bunch of things, so I try to do the right thing.
