Here in mylot.com and other forums, many questions are resolved or have a best reply for a discussion. but when we start discussion we really need the reply, but when we get it( specially best one) we forget to select the best response. Is it really worthy to donate someone best reply? I believe it's a kindda appreciation. But really too tuff to achieve.
Really most of us didn't reply in the mind of achieving a best response. But when you see a your reply is the best one for that discussion and after long time there is no other reply... why don't you think of getting the best response.
I know that it is very related with Human mind and satisfaction but shouldn't we be grateful to those person, and give a appreciation for their good works(that they can keep it in future)?
Nothing personal but How do you feel about this - as a discussion starter and as a replier of a discussion?
Please share!
or if my opinion is wrong please do share!
Thanks!

I appreciate getting the "best response". I do spend a little bit of time actually thinking about what I'm going to write before I actually write it. The reason is not only to get a best response, but also so that is is clear and succinct. I also try to make sure that everything is spelled correctly and is clear grammatically.
My first day on here, I was responding to a discussion about something, and they mentioned that they were using My Lot to help learn English. I believe they were from Tokyo. It never occurred to me that someone would use this as a learning device as well, so I try to spell things correctly so they learn the correct words and punctuation. I imagine English is hard enough without the amount of contractions and everything else we use to shorten words.
Anyways, back to the best response, I think it is a good idea to keep the "best response". I think it gives people an incentive to not just give 3 or 4 word answers. I also think you should get some kind of monetary compensation for each best response you receive. I think that would keep the conversation flowing. :)

Well people are making the discussion to see what answers they get. They review all the answers and the user then chooses which best response it is. I get lots of best responses just look at my user name and browse through my best responses. I don't try to answer the question thinking that I will get the best response. If I get the best response I'm happy of course, but you can also give people a (+) remark for a good reply. That lets us know that you think we did a good job at replying to the discussion.

I do not normally think of getting the best response when I post a response.
But,when I have been awarded the best response,I am happy that I was a help to some one.It also gives me satisfaction and pleasure.
Giving the best response is the one thing which is not abused in mylot when compared to the rating/reputation abuse.
I also do mark the best response in almost all the discussions I start. Some times,if I didnt get satisfactory reply or if it is not worth giving the best response,I leave the discussion unresolved.
Cheers! Have a nice day
Happy mylotting and happy earnings

I'd rather earn more money than earn a best response. LOL! Just joking, I think being given the opportunity to share your thoughts is compensation enough. But I'd be the first to admit, it does help boost one's ego to be named best on something. Even if it's just as little as being picked as "best response" in a forum. :)

You are quite right fuzkabir2, the best response is not something that we actively strive for but is well appreciated if we acquire one.
Trying to earn a best response would be fruitless because it would tend to distract us from the topic in hand, so simply responding genuinely to a discussion is the only realistic approach, which often gets results in itself.

you are right, of course we all should know how to give appreciation to those who does give best responses. but of course there are those who gives right away, and there are those who wait to see if there could be better...
its a decision too of the owner of the discussion.

Most of us here I think don't actually aim to get a best response when they response to a discussions.
They just give their best response and if, it is chosen as a best response, it will be just like a bonus.
I always give my best of my ability on responding to a discussions. If I get a best response, it's just means that the guy who posted the discussions like my response. It also doesn't mean that all other here agree that it's really the best response. What's important is that the discussion I posted is appreciated by someone. It make me feel good.
To make someone also feel good I seelct a best response and give some comments on my posted discussions. It really feel good if your work is being appreciated.

I do appreciate best response, but it's really hard to get it. I think for many of us, a best response will be a surprise to you and may motivate you to reach the next best response. So when I start a dicussion, I will give best response to someone whose answer moves me.

Personally I am not very particular with this best response thing. I have posted more than 500 replies already but never been tagged with best response. Though I did to some of my friends or myLot members who responded to my discussion.

Well people always appreciate getting the best response recognition (I know I do). Its really a small, easy way to give back to the replier as he/she probably spent a while cooking up that response, so giving him/her a + and a best response seems like the right thing to do. I always try to give +'s to users who's posts I appreciate, and whenever I post a question, I mark a best response.
