We know that anyone can contribute to this free encyclopedia. So how could you say that information are reliable if any can contribute to it?

I think about 99% of the information presented there is certainly true. Also, its true that any one can contribute to wikipedia. But,it won't be published straightaway. It would be reviewed. All the informations and statistics given would be checked. Then and only then it would be published. So,let your worries to rest. You can certainly trust wikipedia, and most importantly than any other site. I hope I have cleared your doubt. Cheers! Have a nice day Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

Quality varies. If you can't back up your claims with external evidence, unreliable entries tend to be marked as such.

I wouldn't trust Wikipedia as my only source, but if I saw another website that also said the same thing then I'd go with it as being true. Basically don't just use Wikipedia, but use other sites as well to verify it the information on there is true or not.

Decent Wikipedia articles will tend to have links to other sites providing external justification for claims.

I was reading about a rock musician (who shall remain nameless) who I knew when he was a child. The information given on Wikipedia about this singer's early life was totally inaccurate.

i say not all information posted on that site are reliable in the sense that, when i tried to search on that site to find some sort for my research reading, i found out that the story on that site is different from the discussions in the book. so i got puzzled and tried to open another site to check. i found out that the discussions on wikipedia site was quite different from the other site and so with the book that i have read. since then, i seldom open the wikipedia site for that reason. though there are some information that are reliable but for me i can't take my studies be ruin with such kind of unreliable site. I am a student and i have the right to go and surf wherever and what so ever purpose, in or out of my studies. I just need reliable information for me to share in our class.

wikipedia since is contributed by so many people the content may or may not be reliable. i would suggest using wikipedia as a reference and not a direct material for projects or assignments.

Wikipedia's content is not reliable. Since every one can contribute even poeple who donot know much about the topic still can edit and change the content.

I guess it really depends on what you're looking at. If its something a bunch of people are going to be looking at then information will continue to change, if its either right or wrong. Since anyone can contribute it shows the information on there doesn't have to be right so I wouldn't trust it as a main source if I were writing a paper on it and needed sources.

Wikipedia is not that reliable at all. I have used it for my school paper and research and I have found some misspelled words and wrong dates. Maybe the contents in Wikipedia are not being thoroughly evaluated before posting. There are also some info that is not the same as what is written in text books.
